Quickest way to check if motherboard has problems

If it makes it to the POST (Power-ON Self Test; before the windows/mac boot logo) screen, you're pretty close to golden. You could run a memory diagnostic (such as memtest86+) and/or prime95 in stress testing mode to see if the system is stable.

If the MOBO is bad, the computer, at the most, will sit at a blank screen (never getting to POST). 98% of the time it won't even turn on. Some have diagnostic beeps when booting to POST. If the computer originally had 1 short beep when turned on (when it was working), it may produce multiple short or long beeps. If it never beeped to begin with just disregard this.

The other alternative is manufacturer utilities. The computer or motherboard maker usually has a set of utilities to test the hardware. You'd be able to find it at their website in the support section.

There's a link at the bottom for more information about the POST operation.

Changed battery now radio doesn't display song or artists name. How do I fix this?

Once you disconnect the battery everything that is in your memories goes "poof" it will take a little time for all of your stations to come back. If I'm not mistaken you still have to set those manually. Radio is mostly satellite that's why you get song names etc. So drive let the computers collect data and before to long you'll get to see this names come up again. Hope this helps.

Inspection and Verification
  1. Verify the customer concern.
  1. Visually inspect the following for obvious signs of mechanical or electrical damage.

Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical

  1. If an obvious cause for an observed or reported concern is found, correct the cause (if possible) before proceeding to the next step.
  1. If the cause is not visually evident, connect the diagnostic tool to the data link connector (DLC) and select the vehicle to be tested from the diagnostic tool menu. If the diagnostic tool does not communicate with the vehicle:
    • check that the program card is correctly installed.
    • check the connections to the vehicle.
    • check the ignition switch position.
  1. If the diagnostic tool still does not communicate with the vehicle, refer to the diagnostic tool operating manual.
  1. Carry out the diagnostic tool data link test. If the diagnostic tool responds with:
    • CAN circuit fault; all electronic control units no response/not equipped, refer to Section 418-00 .
    • No response/not equipped for the audio unit, Go To Pinpoint Test A .
    • NOTE: Do not press any buttons on the audio unit while the audio unit is carrying out the self-test. System passed, retrieve and record the continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs), erase the continuous DTCs, and carry out self-test diagnostics for the audio unit.
  1. If the DTCs retrieved are related to the concern, go to Audio Unit Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index.
  1. If no DTCs related to the concern are retrieved, and the concern is not visually evident, proceed to the Speaker Walk-Around Test and the Audio Unit Self-Diagnostic Mode.

Audio Unit Self-Diagnostic Mode
NOTE: To enter the audio unit self-diagnostic mode, the audio unit must be turned on and in radio tuner mode (AM/FM).
  1. To enter the following tests, press the desired preset button while in the speaker walk-around test or while in the audio unit self-diagnostic mode.
  1. To exit the audio unit self-diagnostic mode, turn the key OFF or the audio unit off.
  1. If the concern remains and the fault is not detected, GO to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.
  1. The self-diagnostic mode has the following functions available:
    • Preset button 1 = On-Demand Self-Test. This button runs the on-demand self-test.
      • Pressing the MENU DOWN button allows scrolling of any DTCs found during the test while in this menu.
    • Preset button 2 = Display Continuous DTCs. This button enables viewing of any continuous DTCs that have been logged.
      • Pressing the MENU UP button allows scrolling of any DTCs while in this menu.
      • While continuous DTCs are being displayed, pressing the EJECT button will clear all present DTCs.
    • Preset button 3 = Signal Strength Test. This button displays the signal strength.
    • Preset button 4 = Software Version Display. This button displays the audio unit software version.
      • Pressing the MENU UP button allows scrolling of all audio subsystem software versions while in this menu.
    • Preset button 5 = Display Test. This test illuminates all the display segments for 5 seconds, then turns all segments off.
    • Preset button 6 = Configuration Status. This button enables audio unit configuration status.
      • Pressing the MENU button displays the ACM part number while in this menu.
  1. To exit the self-diagnostic mode, turn the audio unit off or turn the key OFF.
  1. If the concern remains and the fault is not detected, GO to Symptom Chart to continue diagnostics.

My Escape Radio, CD, and Aux input will not work. My temp gauge works, but all music controls do not, except for the load and eject buttons for the CD player. I replaced three fuses that according to my...

Which three fuse's did you replace ? You should check for B+ voltage on both side's of the fuse . Two little metal tabs on top of the fuse. Voltage on both , fuse is good .
Try radio self-diagnostic mode .
A fluctuating AC voltage audio signal is sent to the speakers directly from the audio unit to reproduce sound. The audio unit has a self-diagnostic mode that can be entered by pressing preset buttons 3 and 6 simultaneously.

I have a toshiba satellite p305d-s8828 laptop and have 19dc @ plug going into main board and 19dc on motherboard. Is the motherboard fired? And no power on computer.

Since you have measured the voltage on the motherboard I must presume you are saying there is no power "indicator light" on computer. If this is not the case please clarify. If the light is absent please test the battery as these laptops are not designed to work without a battery or with a dead battery. Operating without a battery can spike the motherboard or other components and cause failure due to overvoltage. If you do have a power indicator light then next observe whether the bootup is proceeding with a beep after the POST (power on self test) and whether you can hear the movement of the hard disk drive... possibly indicating failed LCD display or display drivers/setup. Press F8 after the POST beep to get to safe mode display drivers.
