Good morning, I have a Platronics CS50/CS60 USB wireless head set and have been experiencing the following problelm. When I am on the phone speaking to someone and another call comes in to my extension there is a period of about 10 seconds that it becomes very garbled and broken up and the party I am talking to cannot understand. After about 10 seconds it clears up perfectly

It is a CS50 I am working off of a softphone vis Avaya (I telecommute for a large company) It is not hooked up to a cell phone. Are ;you saying my cellphone could be causing the problem even though it is not hooked up at all and is in my pocket. I have been using the same equipment for a year and never experience this problem except for the past few week. I need to know a Fixya solution. If it needs repair where can that be done?

  • Stephen Knoll Mar 22, 2011

Now that is a heck of a fix. "It's just like that." No it is not! I have been using it for over a year and never had the problem before.
please send the reply to my email (changed) sknoll@jointcommission.org

If you're using rechargeable batteries, make sure they're fully charged, and make sure the battery contacts both on the batteries and inside the headset are clean (use a qtip and alcohol).
It sounds like the unit is having a problem syncing, and that a tuned circuit is possibly slightly mistuned, causing a lag in the signal becoming clear.
If the unit is new, try to get an exchange. If the warranty period's over, there's not much you can do to fix this kind of a problem. The problem could also be in the provider's system, especially if you're using a magic jack or internet phone.
One way to eliminate the service as being the problem would be to try it on another line or system, if possible.
That's all I can think of, and hope it helps.

Hello,

It's just natural. No need for you to worry about that. It's just like that because of the signal interference caused by the incoming call.

Hi,

which is it Cs50 or Cs60, check for a label on the stand and on the headset. The c50 can work in the 900MHz frequency and also a higher frequency, the 900MHz is used by most cellphones, if you are using it on the 900mhz and there is a phone working on 900mhz it may very likely cause this interference.

it does not matter if it is connected to a cellphone or not, the fact that it is in the same frequency as most of the phones today - switch it to the other frequency and see if the problem goes away. Any cellphone may be causing interference. you you should be able to change the frequency in the desktop application that you have on the computer.

Hi, we use the plantronics cs60 headset at my place of work and the earpiece stopped working so i have changed it for another one and i have paired them together but now when i pick the ear piece up the...

It would depend on what headset you actually purchased. You say CS60 but it may be the Plantronics CS50 or CS55 headset. The headsets are not interchangeable. If you are not sure what headset you have, simply look on the bottom of the base for the part number. On the headset you can read what part number that is by very carefully looking under the battery. Here is a link to open the battery.

Here is a link to the CS60 instructions to replace the battery.

I think that if the base and the headset are the same it might be that you may need to subscribe or pair it together again.

Here is a link to the CS60 subscription and pairing instructions.

If you click on the following page:

Towards the bottom of the page, click on the tab labeled ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. Within that section, you will see PLANTRONICS CS50/CS55 INTERACTIVE USERS GUIDE to click on. This will help you visually see how to setup and start using your CS55.

Is it compatible with an IPCC nortel network phone?

I am personally using a Plantronics CS60 wireless headset with a Meridian Nortel M2006 Phone and it works just fine.

Here is how you can setup the Plantronics CS60 wireless headset.

NOTE: Before setting up the system make sure the IntelliStand switch (on the right side of the charging base) is in the "_" position and NOT the "=" position.

The headset and the base unit are supplied subscribed to each other. However, if you wish to use a replacement headset with the base unit (or if you lose your connection to the base unit), then you must re-subscribe as follows:

1. Return the headset to the charging base.

2. Press and hold both the + and - buttons on the back of the charging base until the red light on the front of the base starts to flash.

3. Let go of both buttons. The red light should continue to flash.

4. Press the mute switch (black wheel on the top of the headset) straight down until a green light appears on the headset, then let go of the wheel, and the light should remain on the headset.

5. Resubscription is finished when the red light on the base is fully illuminated and the green light on the headset disappears.

6. Remove the headset from the charging base lift telephone handset/press headset button if not using a handset lifter. The headset and base should now be connected.

All of a sudden my CS 55 with plantronics stopped working. It shows that its on but the headpiece isnt charing and also doesnt work. Any ideas why?

If the Plantronics CS55 wireless headset shows that it is on, you have to make sure of the following things.

a. the green LED on the base turns on when you turn the call switch on from the headset.
b. the small green LED on the side of the headset is blinking.
c. the telephone headset is lifted from the cradle.
d. if the headset is not charging and the Amber light on the base does not blink when you place wireless headset on it; trying placing the headset more firmly.
e. If the headset is not charging and the Amber light on the base does not blink even after placing the wireless headset firmly on the charging cradle, you may need to change the battery.

Alternately you can try resetting the Plantronics CS55 wireless headset.

Reset Plantronics CS50, CS60 or CS55 Wireless Headset

If you have problems with the sound or connection of your Plantronics CS50, CS60 or CS55 wireless phone headset, you may want to try to hard reset it using the following steps:

Note: Ensure the IntelliStand switch (on the right side of the charging base) is in the - position and NOT the = position.

1. Press both the call control button and the listening volume/mute button for 5 seconds. When the indicator light blinks release both buttons.

2. Press the call control button again. The talk indicator light will again blink to indicate the headset is back to normal.

3. Disconnect the AC charger from the AC charging jack for 5 seconds.

4. Reconnect the AC charger.

Now give the Plantronics headset a try.

Plantronics Problem with my headset

Setup the Plantronics CS60 wireless headset as follows:

  • Locate the 2 ports on the bottom of the CS60 charging base. One has an icon of a "full telephone" and the other has an icon of a "hand receiver."
  • Unplug the hand receiver from the base of your existing telephone and plug it into the "hand receiver" port on the CS60 base unit.
  • Then take the short cable that came with the CS60 and plug it into the "full telephone" port on the base of the CS60.
  • Plug the other end of the short cord into the hand receiver port of your telephone (where the hand receiver just was).
  • Make sure the AC Power is plugged into the wall, and then you can adjust the configuration settings.
To be able to hear or speak through the handset, either place the headset back into its charging cradle or press the call control button on the side of the headset. The talk indicator light on the base should go off and no sound will come through the headset.

To be able to hear or speak through the headset, press the call control button on the side of the headset. The talk indicator light on the base should go on and the green light on the side of the headset should be blinking.

Note: Make sure that the cables are connected correctly and the handset cable is connected to the base of the CS60 base.
