WINDOWS SET UP FAILS TO LOCATE THE HARD DRIVE ACESS SEEMS TO BE DENIED

Mabee the hard drive has failed . try entering bios and see if the hard drive is recognised .If not try turning the computer off unplug it then reconnect the drive data cable and power cable
then re- start the computer and see if it is recognised. some models of older hard drives needed a driver installed during set up -- you usually have to put the driver on a floppy disc and hit the f6 button when prompted by windows set up to install third party drivers . I hope this helps

The machine restart and the harddisk cannot be recognise

Do you mean that the HDD is not detected when you restart your PC?
Is it a New HDD or used HDD? If it is an old HDD probably the HDD have failed.
Is your disk a "SATA OR IDE" interface connection?

Go to your BIOS settings and see whether your HDD is recognised on the BIOS settings.?

Best thing is to go back to your MotherBoard manual and look an the BIOS settings. If you are not sure just use the default settings.

Have you tried a registry repair program? Could help, there are a few free ones on download.com website. Also a free one called Advanced System repair which seems to solve many of my problems, also has a registry repair on it.
Hope it helps, just throwing in my 2 cents.

Hello !
You have said that you have done installation and Harddisk are not recognised this is a indication of damaged Harddisk ie its registry is bad or its not working .
I recomend a new Harddisk then you will able to use your laptop
Before you change the harddisk you should check the IDE cables by swapping them coz sometimes they could be faulty, connect new cable to the harddisk then on it try installation again .

Good luck

Install xp in compaq presario c700

The hard disk may be set to Enhanced AHCI SATA mode. Look for Legacy or IDE mode setting in BIOS menu options.
XP SP2 does not recognise Enhanced SATA mode hard disks.
see http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/10/23/windows-xp-setup-could-not-detect-and-find-any-sata-hard-disk-drive-on-ahci-mode/
You may be able to use NLite to make a CD which has correct SATA drivers.

Hi Bob,

Just try resetting the BIOS and check if it works.

You need to access BIOS screen and most of the computers has F% key is assigned for Loading the Dedault Settings. After F5 key you need to press the F10 key to save the settings and exit from the BIOS.

Hope this helps!

IBM Netvista 6059 - Can't upgrade to windows XP

Right well XP Pro really MUST be formatted with NTFS only... I suggest you get a third party partitioning program like Partition magic and completely remove the partition & redo it all again & this time Format NTFS. Or if ya have a WIN98 boot disk, and ya can use FDISK, Delete ALL partitions, and remake them again, using all the disk space, then format as NTFS, then proceed as below Then using your windows XP PRO setup Disk, start the install ...then when asked about where you want the install located, select C & REFORMAT it AGAIN with the windows setup using again NTFS file system... this should finish & then the Install should "see" your entire hard drive and format it accordingly and then when finished you can proceede to install XP.
