Hello. Ensuring accuracy with a new unit should not be necessary. All Pi-Tape pruducts are:

"delivered with a Calibration Report traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology and all calibrations are performed in accordance with ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994, ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 10012-1, MIL-STD 45662A and 10CFR, part 21."

If the unit is second hand, the only real way to ensure accuracy is to verify the unit with a second calibrated vernier, or actually have it calibrated. Pi-Tape has a calibration lab. The link to contact them is:

Lots of other good info here as well. Hope this helps out.

What does it mean when my us-magnum 1000xr pocket scale says rCAL and keeps flashing 500.0

You need to send it out to the manufacture and have it recalibrated. Hence the code RCAL.

How many numbers are in pi ?

This is a never ending argument for an infinite number. But if you want the first 100,000 digits, try this:

In August 2010, a new record was set by Shigeru Kondo who managed to calculate 5,000,000,000,000 digits of Pi, using programmer Alexander Yee's y-cruncher. The calculation was carried out on a home-built computer with the two rounds of verifications taking just 64 and 66 hours to complete.

How to deduce the centrifugation speed from the scale provided?

Do you have a biomedical group in your facility or somebody who's responsible for maintaining your equipment? If you do, they should have a photo-tachometer. They can place a piece of reflective tape onto the rotor to get you the true rpm speed. You probably need an accurate speed anyway to ensure proper rcf for your samples.

Crank setting on 1995 sr5 3.0 set it on the marks and 0 on crank seems to be lagging

if you are timing the engine, you always set it to TDC. the timing vernier scale is only to check for advance when the engine is running

When i put in integrals to solve, the ti89 gives me an answer with pi / a degree(normally 180) i do not need pi anywhere in my answer. how do i change this?

You are not using the right units. The integrals of functions involving angles (trigonometric functions) that you find in tables and other refrerences are valid only for the natural angle unit which is the radian. With any other angle unit (degree, gradian) there is a scale factor to take into account. That is the factor yoy are complaining about.

If it were not the case, the same integral will have two different values depending on the unit you use: and that cannot be.

If you want the calculator to give you the standard integrals in reference tables you must set the default angle unit to be radian.

Let x_deg be an angle in degrees and x_rad the corresponding value in radians.
180 deg=Pi rad
x_deg =(180 deg/PI)*x_rad
calculating the differentials of bot sides you obtain
dx_deg= (180/Pi) dx_rad

Similarly, with grads

My weight is not accurate. I weigh 260+ and the scale reads 245 to 249 and is inconsistant. I just replaced batteries (CR2032)for the second time

Very few electronic scales are accurate as they are a function of a resistance measured against a voltage. They may be accurate when you buy them, but over time the electronic components decay and read differently as the components are cheap 10% type resistors and capacitors and cannot hold their specific values over time.
If you want accuracy, you will have to get a balance type scale that can be calibrated on site.

Body fat scale Question

Like all body fat tests, body fat scales don't actually measure your body fat percentage. They determine your body density. The examiner (or the scales) then uses a formula to calculate body fat percentage based on body density. These formulas just predict your body fat. Unfortunately there is no one formula that accurately predicts body fat for the whole population. Differences in age, gender, ethnicity, body size, and fitness level all have a significant affect on the results. Well, whether body fat scales measure your "true" body fat percentage or not doesn't matter! As long as they can accurately monitor changes in your body composition over time, that's all you need.
