I am trying to print a receipt from my dell studio laptop from my cannon mp270 printer. JUST INSTALLED THE PRINTER AND ALL CONNECTIONS ARE OK, PLEASE HELP, I AM STUCK

HP likes to screw around with their customers by having expiry dates on their cartridges, if its date expired the printer won't recognize it. Cannon may do the same, check the cart for any expiry date.

Email your document to a computer that is connected to a printer.

Basic things to try: -you could start by clicking on devices and printers button on MS start sphere - click on your installed printer right click on "see whats printing and see if any documents are queued in printer - cancel them if there are.


have you checked your ink levels - have you checked ink cartridges are okay (genuine) cartridges if you have just changed them. Is there plastic strips on ink cartridges if new?

have you checked all connections to make sure all peripherals are connected okay.

Have you tried restarting your computer. Have you checked nothing is jammed either in paper tray or inside printer. Is there an error message on the printer console?

sorry this is not a complete solution but you might try these things first.......

If you have a wireless router with a wireless network then -

Configure the IP address your wireless printer, (this is done through the printer's menu settings) make sure it matches the IP address range on your wireless network, it maybe 192.168.1.*** then configure the wireless printer with a fixed IP address with the same IP address range but at a higher address eg. 192.168.1.10 so it does not clash with any other IP addresses.
Next install the printer driver normally.
Then configure the printer Properties.
Click Start - Printers and faxes - right click on the your printer - click Properties - Port tab - click Add Port - Standard TCP/IP port -
Port Name eg. 192.168.1.10
Printer name eg Network printer
Click OK
Then do a TEST print if it does not work then the IP address is probably incorrect.

most software is available on the internet for download.
if you try just plugging it into your computer via db or USB the computer should recognize it and you can set it up...in all probability you will need a driver and that will be a case of downloading it if not already present on your computer

Try direct connection , no Hub .

have you checked the paper settings that the printer prints? often the printer has letter format as first print options, and then it doesent work. you need to change it to A4 in printer settings.
What happends when you trying to print ?

try using best quilty in printer options menu ok might need new ink also latest driver installed for vista from cannon website ok

that happened to me with my cannon ip4300 so I installed the driver again so I had 2 drivers installed on the computer. The computer named the seconed instalation cannon (2) .

number 2 worked the first didnt.

so used number 2.

later deleted number 1 .still all ok

wierd but worked.
