My 97 Explorer has no radio at all to get a serial number off of. Is there another way to get the serial number to replace the radio? Perhaps the VIN? Thank you!

Try using the VIN at the Dealer

The radio SERIAL NUMBER should be stamped in the metal casing or on a label

This numbers belong to that car and once you have it DON'T loose it because in Australia some dealers charge a fee and some don't.... Hope this helped....CHEERS..

Turn the radi volume up high

Can you hear any hiss or noise?

If Yes..then the problem is your radio or aerial.

If NO , then the problem will usually be the speakers

Check connectors+wiring

Radio code

You need to get the serial number off the sticker attached to the radio. It will require pulling apart your dash. Call an Acura dealership with that serial number and they should be able to provide you the code.

I replaced a battery in my 97 328i BMW the radio needs a code

First make sure that the code has not been noted somewhere within the car (underneath the ash tray, glove box , rear of sun visor etc)

To see if your code is available here for free then the radio will have to be removed from the dashboard (and if you are lucky, someone may have written the code on the casing ) .

If not then POST ANOTHER QUESTION

quoting the radio MAKE+MODEL plus ALL the LETTERS+NUMBERS on ANY LABELS ,BARCODES or STAMPED IN THE METAL CASING

Also quote the MAKE of CAR

note: Unfortunately not all radios can be decoded using the Serial Number

If not then try your Main Dealer ...........or take it into a Decode Service who will plug in a laptop to read/recode the memory chip (EEPROM). This takes a few minutes and shouldn`t be too expensive

Need Radio Security code. serial number TQAAA010712826

If your lucky the code may have been written on the back of the manuel. If not and may not have been set try 0000, and if that does not work and your good with the dealer they may help you reprogram the radio free of charge since they are always disconnecting batteries.
You could always log on to www.radio-code.com and they can help you unlock your radio.
Good luck and hope this helps.

Battery wasnt workng in my honda crv 2001....So when i replaced it...my radio wasnt working at all...it demanded a access code, wich i dont have...im just trying to obtain this code????

I have a 2001 Honda CR-V as well. I removed all the stock sound system from it and replaced everything. I noticed a serial number on the radio once you slide it out, and that can be brought to a nearby Honda dealership. There they can scan the serial number and give you the corresponding radio code, for free. Also, perhaps check in the glove box or manual for any stickers or text concerning the code.
