Question about Vacuums

Open Question

A 'burn' hole has appeared in the Microwave Outlet Cover causing arcing (or similar sparking and blue flashing!). Would replacing this cover with a new one solve the problem or does it suggest something that would quickly reoccur? Would it be an economical repair or should we ditch the machine for a replacement? Thanks in advance etc it is appreciated.

SOURCE: Accidentally plugged into 220 volt outlet

The wiring diagram isn't showing a fuse, but there could be one on one of the circuit boards. Maybe the converter is bad. You will just have to take it apart and look it over. Maybe this pic. will help:

Try replacing the belt. My vacuum cleaner had the same problem and once the belt was changed the burning smell was gone.

SOURCE: Power head not working

There is a gray button next to the red "power on" button that powers the brush unit. If the unit has tripped the reset for some reason it must be reset. This can be done by holding the gray button down for ten seconds while the unit is not running. When you power it up after this reset, the brush unit should run.

The microwave will not turn on. No power. Checked fuse box and power outlet...not the problem. Unit just wont turn on? Is there a reset button or another option.?

Remove the cover and locate the internal fuse you will find near the power cord entry. Replace with the same.

I have an Emerson countertop microwave. It runs for about 30 min and then it just shuts down.It takes about 1 hour before it will start working again.

Check the thermostat of the microwave oven. Remove the cover with a cross or flat screw and you will see the thermostat. You need to check it with a analog tester. Replace it with similar type and ratings.
Check also the wiring see to it is not grounded.
It's a pleasure to help you.

There is minimal suction in the hose. Nothing appears to be blocking the hose.

You most likely have a gasket out of place.
1. On the bottom, there is a panel held in by two screws. Open that up. Inside you will see a white gasket that should be aligned with the hole. If it is not aligned, you will not get good suction.

2. The other gasket will you require you to take out the two screws on the blue cover (at the base of the unit where the dial is). You will see a black plastic tube with two clear tubes attached. Remove the two tubes. remove the screw holding the black plastic tube in. Inside is a red gasket. Ensure that is in the correct place. Reattach screw + clear tubing. Reattach blue cover.

Let me know if this helps.

Eureka canister vacuum cleaner Model 6865

The 6865 has a high rpm AMTEK Lamb motor, Brushes will seldom solve the problem at this stage.
Once the sparking and burning starts the conectiion between the brush and commutator is arcing and burning. If the sparks are blue, save your time.
A good service tech will run in brushes with a seating stone and a low voltage setup to allow new brushes to seat, but this is generally best accomplished on heavy duty , lower rpm motors.
IF YOUR ARMATURE IS SCRATCHY LOOKING OR WORN LIKE AN APPLE CORE,OR THE SEGMENTS ARE NOT PARALLEL IN THE SPACING YOU WILL NEED A NEW MOTOR.

Location of belt

There are two Phillips head screws on the cover over the power head. This is the cover that fits around the carpet height adjustment knob. You will notice there are four oval shaped holes on each side of the cover and the crews are in the ones closest to the vacuum handle. The screws are black and may be dust covered and therefore hard to see, but this is all that holds the cover on. When you take these out the cover will lift easily off. Once you do this the motor, belt, and brush assembly are accessible. I purchased a bag of two belts at the local ACE hardware. I recommend cleaning the brush while it is out. Also be sure the bearings on each end of the brush assembly turn freely as hair can work into these and cause them to bind. I hope this helps. lysager@gmail.com

Burning Smell coming from the moter

This could be a motor problem. There is always a slight blue arcing that occurs when an electrical motor runs and can be visible through the exhaust vent, but any excessive arcing indicates a problem. If the carbon brushes are sticking, this will cause excessive arcing and can be corrected by an experience service person, but if there is any electrical failure, the motor would have to be replaced. There are no parts available for these motors and the expense of replacing an armature (the likely culprit) would be more than the motor. This could also be as simple as a worn belt, but usually, belts will not produce the smell your describing. When a motor is burning out, it will produce an acrid odor that will linger for a long time.

Bissell 6900 stopped working how do I open the thing?

Bissell 6900 Digipro ON OFF Power Switch failed. I found the wire connectors for the power switch were corroded. I fixed this by soldering the wires directly to the terminals leading to the motor. To access the circuit board and the on.off power switch I pryed off the cover for the on /off power switch and the cover for the cord retraction leaver. The covers are held on by two tabs that extend under the red cover on the top of the vacuum. Push the switch cover away from the red cover while prying the cover upwards, You may damage the two tabs on the switch cover, as I did, but afterwards, the cover went back in place and appears to work okay. WARNING: This is a home made repair of a 120 VAC circuit. If you are un qualifued to do this repair you face serious risk of a faulty solder and fire inside the vaccuum cleaner. 4fd9446.jpg78baa14.jpg
