I get disconnected from network. I get message "limited access" and "no ip configuration"

Double click on that internet access icon. Go to properties and click repair.

or you can do this.

1. Open RUN
2. Type in CMD. Command Prompt window will open.
3. Type in ipconfig /release ...then press enter
4. Type in ipconfig /renew......then press enter
5. type exit...enter

Then try to check if your access is still limited.

Two possibilities:

1. the router is configured to hand-out IP-addresses in a limited range, e.g., 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.110, namely 11 different IP-addresses. When the 12th computer asks for an IP-address, there is none available. Remedy: configure the router to use a larger range of IP-addresses.

2. when an IP-address is handed-out, attached is a 'TTL' ("time to live") value, indicating how long the IP-address remains valid, e.g., 10 minutes or 100 minutes or 1 day or 1 week. If the TTL is too large, then each computer "hogs" the IP-address (even after being shut-off in mid-afternoon).
Remedy: configure the router to use a shorter TTL. Don't worry: when a TTL value drops to 50% of its original value, on a specific computer, the computer will "renew" the lease.

When attempting to set up or make network connections on a Windows computer, you may encounter a Limited Or No Connectivity error message similar to the following:
Limited or no connectivity: The connection has limited or no connectivity. You might be unable to access the Internet or some network resources.

This message can result from any of several different technical glitches or configuration problems. Follow these steps to resolve Limited Or No Connectivity errors in Windows.
1. Determine whether your network access is functioning properly (that you can reach local network resources and the Internet). If you are using a broadband Internet and Windows XP Service Pack 2, this message is often a false error report. See Microsoft Knowledge Base article 892896 for details on how to work around this error appropriately.
2. If your network access is non-functional. continue to the following steps.
3. If your computer connects to the network through a broadband router , resetting (powering off and on) the router may resolve the issue. If not using a broadband router, or if resetting your router only temporarily resolves the issue and the error message re-appears later, continue to the following steps.
If connecting to your network using Wi-Fi and using wireless security, your WEP or other security key may not be set properly. Check the wireless security configuration on your computer's network adapter and update if it necessary.

Device some time working then disconnect.and not registred device why any solution.


If an L-series device is configured to use Dynamic IP address, a DHCP server must be present on the network where the L-series device is connected.

Please verify the following behaviors in order to isolate the problem:

1) Does clicking on the "Retry" button after 30 seconds work?
- If yes, please look at the attached document for advice.

2) If you configure the L-device to use Static IP, manually assign an IP address to it and configure it to access a server with a known IP address, can it connect successfully?
- if yes, your DHCP server is not running, not configured properly
or is not accessible from the sub-network where the L-device
is connected.

If you answered no to the above questions, please re-check all network cables and verify if the network connection status is Ok on the network switch where the device is connected to (check for a green light for the switch port where you plugged the L-device network cable).

Hi there,
Enabling DHCP at the Client To enable the Windows NT DHCP client, you must log on as administrator at the Windows NT client.

Normally, you enable DHCP as part of the installation procedure for Microsoft TCP/IP, however, you can use this procedure if you have manually configured TCP/IP:
  1. Run Control Panel and choose Network.

    The Network Settings dialog box appears.
  2. Under Installed Network Software, select TCP/IP Protocol and then choose configure.

    The TCP/IP configuration dialog box appears.
  3. Select Enable Automatic DHCP Configuration.

    A Microsoft (MS) TCP/IP message appears, indicating that the DHCP Protocol attempts to configure the server automatically during system initialization.
  4. Choose Yes.

    A MS TCP/IP Configuration dialog box appears, displaying current TCP/IP configuration parameters. The IP Address and Subnet Mask boxes are not available (grayed out) and the manually configured values are no longer displayed.
  5. Choose OK to return to the Network Settings dialog box.
  6. Choose OK again.
  7. Shut down and restart the computer.
To enable DHCP on a Windows for Workgroups client if TCP/IP is not installed yet:
  1. Use Network Setup to install the MS TCP/IP-32 3.11 protocol.
  2. In the MS TCP/IP Configuration dialog box, select the Enable Automatic DHCP Configuration check box, and choose Continue.
  3. Restart the computer to initialize TCP/IP using DHCP.
To enable DHCP on a Windows for Workgroups client if TCP/IP is installed:
  1. To access the Network Drivers dialog box, run Network Setup.
  2. Select Microsoft TCP/IP-32 3.11, and then choose Setup.
  3. In the MS TCP/IP Configuration dialog box, select the Enable Automatic DHCP Configuration check box, and choose continue.

    A message box appears indicating that the configuration of DHCP overrides any values established locally.
  4. Choose Yes.
  5. To initialize TCP/IP using DHCP information, restart the computer.

My internet will not connect. Says the strength is strong, but internet is still unable to connect. We are using the netbook by sylvania. We have the lynxis router and the internet is constantly...


Please check in the Network connection whether the Connection status shows Limited/Local only.
If in case the it shows Limited Only, then follow the steps:
1) Unistall Network Driver and restart then Reinstall the Network Driver.
2) Installed Updated Driver from the Manufacture Site. restart.
3) This should resolve the issue. If the connection status show Connected/ Internet. Then Configure the Wireless connection, by accessing the Router. Check the Router configuration and computer's configuration,.

On my windows vista dell laptop it say limited acess to linksys


"Limited access or no connectivity" message comes when there is issue in ip configuration for that enable DHCP in router then set ip get automatic in your windows network adapter's tcp ip property. Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then enable DHCP save settings and restart router then go to your windows network adapter tcp ip property then set ip get automatic.Then it will work fine. Let me know if you need further assistance. How to assign IP address to HP procurve1800 switch?


The 1800 series do not have CLI so you should connect directly to any RJ-45 port.

I quote from the installation guide:
"In the factory default configuration, the default IP (Internet Protocol) address of the switch is 192.168.2.10 and the subnet mask is 255.255.255.0"

So set your PC IP address in the same subnet and access it through your web browser. If it has not the default configuration, interconnect the switch ports 1 and 2 and reboot it.

Limit or no conectivity problem


I understand that you are using the Windows Internet Connection Sharing to share your internet connection to your other computer.

If you don't have a router to share the connection then you are using Windows ICS connection.

When you enable ICS, the network adapter connected to the local area network is assigned a static IP address of 192.168.0.1.

You can check this site for more information

You can try to connect the two computers first without the internet connection.

Example : PC A 192.168.0.2
You can set the IP addresses manually, just set the tcp/ip properties and from that area you can set the IP address manually.

And for PC B 192.168.0.3
You dont need to set the ip address for the gateway and dns since you are just testing the connection of the two computer.

They should belong to the same workgroup example HOME and set the computer name to PC1 and PC2.

You can right click MY COMPUTER then select PROPERTIES then you will able to see the computer name.

To start the wizard
1.
Choose Control Panel from the Start menu.
2.
Click Network and Internet Connections, and then click Set up or change your home or small office network.
