If your talking about an electric chain saw, you have burnt out the windings on the motor and the chain saw is now in need of a new motor. If the saw was less than $100.00 US, you will most likely not be able to get it fixed cheaply enough and might just as well buy a new one. If it is brand new and under warranty, you can most likely get a replacement for free but you will have to contact the actual manufacturer, you can also try the store/dealer where you purchased the saw

My electric lawnmower sometimes does not start, just humms. Then I TURN IT OVER, AND TURN THE BLADE A LITTLE BIT. the blade feels hard at first but soon feels loose. then it wil start as normal

The lawnmowers electric motor has a bad spot on the armature. You need to replace the electrical brushes that contact the motor. If you are lucky you may just need to clean them and reinsert them in to brush holders.

Why does my new Singer cg-500 stop working, then start for a little bit and stop again?

Probably thread wrapped around something....takeup crank, motor pully...if you can get inside to have a look great, if not, find someone who can.

Air is cold. Compressor outside works. The condensor will run for a little while, then shut off while compressor is still running.

Outdoor condensing fan motor has stopped running. This problem could be caused by a bad motor run capacitor. purchase a new capacitor. If your motor capacitor is not the problem, then more than likely you need a new motor. Is the fan blade tight, stiff or hard to turn? If the fan blade is hard to turn then you probably need a new motor.bobicehouse_96.jpg

My air conditioner tries to turn on, air comes out of vents but isn't cold, and outside the blades on the AC unit are not spinning. I hear a noise when it tries to turn on but they don't start...

Received a * used* Swisher ZT 2660 26hp in October of 2010 has 50 hours on the meter. First 2 or 3 cuts all went fine last cut of the year when the mower would contact grass / leaves the blades would...

Is the belt slipping? If it's slipping you'll notice it, because it'll smoke pretty soon. If, as you watch it under varying load, it slows down with the blades then the belt is fine.

If it's not the belt then it's going to be the electric clutch that drives the belt. Get your voltmeter out and tap into the wires that go to the clutch, watch it as the mower runs. Anything under about 13V and the clutch may slip. If the voltage is good then the clutch is worn out. They don't cost too much, I'm pretty sure they're well under $100 still.

Make sure the wires that plug into the clutch are making a good connection. You want to check the voltage between the switch and clutch so that you're also checking the switch- if it's got a little crud in it, or a bad connection farther up the line, it can cause the clutch to slip, and you'll see this as the voltage dropping.

Overloaded grinder no longer turns after puff of smoke!

the shear pin, which goes through the grinder blade base and the motor shaft has 'sheared' off the protect the motor from overload. The metal bits of the pin need to be removed from both the grinder part and the shaft, a new one inserted. It is a 'pressed fit', so it will be hard to remove.
After the bits are removed, a common 'roll pin' of the proper diameter should be a suitable replacement
