Beeps are telling you that you have a problem with a hardware component (i.e. keyboard, RAM, motherboard). The most common problem is with the RAM. Try taking it out and putting it back in. If that doesn't work try different sticks of RAM.

My pavilion dv5 laptop does not boot up at all! it only shows curtsey light when the battery s pluged in. The screen does not come on at all.

Sounds like a dead motherboard to me (turns on, but no one's home). Just in case, remove the battery, disconnect from power, then reattach both, and turn it on and see if it makes a difference.

I bought an HP Pav dv5 for a womens shelter where i volunteer, when you try to turn it on all it will do is beep 3 times,it is 1 year old,hp told me the problem is the motherboard, can fix it?

That sounds right, if the screen doesnt come on and it beeps. it probably is an issue with the motherboard..

If its only a year old, you may still be under the extended warranty.

You should go to the link below, and enter your information to see if its still under warranty.
