Question about Televison & Video
You can change the region code as described in your manual, but I always advise against doing so.
The reason I advise against changing your region code is that every DVD and blu-ray player/recorder has an anti-piracy feature built in that will permanently disable it after three such changes, and there is no way to fix it.
If you insist on changing to region A, follow the manual instructions, but please be advised that afterward you will then only have two region changes left. You will need one to reset to region B after you watch your region A DVD. Once you make the third change, you will have to leave it or risk turning your recorder into a paperweight. This applies to PC DVD drives as well.
There is a public domain program called DVD Shrink that will allow a PC to copy most DVD's as region 0 (playable in all regions) with a slight quality sacrifice. I have no experience with a blu-ray version, but it is worth a look.
I advise against anything on the internet that claims to set your player/recorder to "region free" because all the programs of that nature that I have seen turned out to be pranks that permanently disable your player/recorder.
Good luck, and Thank You for using FixYa!
