Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Yes! You will need to purchase a 'Y' piece which is used upside down - the single end is screwed onto the water supply tap and each of the hot and cold water feeds to the machine screw onto each of the double lower 'arms'. The machine opens its 'hot' water valve, receives just the single supply cold water and then has to heat it to the correct temperature. When it wants cold water- for rinses- it opens its cold water valve ..........and gets the same water supply as the hot valve!
'Y' pieces are normally obtained from local hardware stores - certainly in the UK and France!
Good luck,
John C

Can I just use a cold water feed for a Bosch precision WFG2420?

You can use just a cold feed, but both hoses need to be attached using a 'y' piece connector, the y piece is connected to the water tap and the both hoses are attached to that, then to the washing machine. I have added a link so you can see what a y connector is, if you don't already know.

Bosch Precision WFG 2020. I can choose a programme the active light comes on but nothing happens, no water runs into the drum and the cycle does not start.

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

If you have checked that the hot and cold water taps are turned on fully and the hoses are not kinked or squashed at the back, it is worth while checking both the hot and cold water inlet filters. Turn the taps off and remove both hoses at the washer end. Inside each inlet port there is normally a little filter which should just slide out. Clean if necessary and replace each one and the hoses. If after turning the taps back on there is no improvement, the problem is symptomatic of a malfunctioning hot or cold water control valve. Sorry but it needs a service call and a check that it isn't the control PCB ;-0(

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck,

Our bosch washing machine is about 9 years old and won't drain properly. The "end" light flashes as if the drain is blocked but it's not. If we manually drain the machine we can get onto...

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
As you do not mention 'filter' I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Here are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)

If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and most are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Bosch wfd2460 washing machine..fault water pouring out of machine drum even though mchine is switched off and door was open, please help

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
This is symptomatic of a malfunctioning water control valve- the hot water one, if the washer is hot and cold fill, and the cold one if it is just cold fill! It's not closing correctly and closed is its 'default' and no power position.
Sorry but it needs replacing and a service call ;-0(
Good luck,

Hi. I have a Bosch precision wfg 2820 front load washing machine. The drum no longer spins round. The belt is still attached and seems to be ok. Any ideas where to look next? Thanks

You say seems to be ok.....can you hold the belt and turn the drum? Is there more that 3/4" slack in belt when you push it side ways? How old is this machine and have you ever had it serviced?

My bosch washing machine is a cold filled and the cold pipe is frozen as we got it in the garage can we us the hot fill with water min setting

You could, but bear in mind that it will be rinsing in hot water, so it could affect your washing.
I would suggest wrapping hot cloths round cold inlet hose and hope that will unfreeze it.
Also possible water could be frozen in the valve as well, which could burst when water unfreezes.

Bosch WFF 2001 has finished a wash cycle but the water will not drain or spin away, cannot open the door. There is no apparent filter trap to empty, help!

Do the following.

  1. Switch off the machine, unplug or disconnect the mains power to the machine and turn off the water supply to the machine.
  2. Remove the access panel on the lower right front of the machine.
3. Remove the filter and make sure that the filter is not blocked and is clean and clear of all debris. Clean as required. Note that depending on the machine type you may get a lot of water coming out of the filter when you remove it if the machine has not drained successfully. Note that if the machine has stopped and not fully drained then you may be able to drain out the excess water by removing or disconnecting the waste hose and laying it on the ground in a tray. It may take a few minutes to empty but it will save a small flood.
4. Proceed by checking the drain hose for proper connection and kinks and make sure that it is not blocked.
5. Also check that the main waste drain pipe, if you use one, is not blocked and clean if required.
6. Reconnect the power and switch the machine on.
If the problem persists then do the following.
7. Switch off the machine and disconnect the mains power.
8. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure it is operational.
9. Remove the connecting hoses, and expect water to drain out and make sure the pipes are not blocked with debris or any object blockage.
10. Makes sure the pump appears clear and that the impeller looks in good condition.
11. Reconnect the hoses and then reconnect power and switch the machine on.
12. If problem has not been corrected, then remove the pump and check that the drive coupling to the motor is OK and that the motor turns OK. If all is well then replace the pump.

Bosch WFF2001 can I use it cold fill only

Sure it will work but both fill hoses have to be hooked up or you have to buy a hose bib cap to place on the hot side to keep the water from comming out the other side.
