Depending on the saw you bought, (or other tool) some come with what is called a "rapid charger" and some come with a small "trickle" charger. most cordless tool batteries take about 1 to 1 1/2 hour to charge (from empty) using a rapid type, the trickle charger will take up to 8 hours to charge a battery. if you want fast, but the rapid charger, and usuallly when you buy one you can get a free battery with the deal.

Have a Panasonic 10.8v cordless impact. Batteries fully charged but when plugged in shows no battery and reads e1 on readout. Any ideas what this means? What can i do?

Buy a new one. Panasonic does not make good cordless tools and if you got over a year out of it feel lucky. Not being sarcastic at all. The batterys go and there not worth replaceing.. Ken

DEWALT DW938 18VOLT CORDLESS SAWZALL can it use Lithium Batteries

As long as the voltage of the battery is the same as the tool, the tool won't mind if the power is coming from a NiCd or lithium battery. You do have to have a charger that works with lithium batteries to charge them up. Chargers that can charge lithium batteries can also charge NiCd and NMH batteies. NiCd chargers are not always programmed to detect when lithium batteries are full and may continue to charge them to the point of melting or starting on fire.

Should batteries discharge in or out of the tool?

You want to use a fully charged battery when using any of your cordless tools. If you use your tools regularly, batteries wont discharge too much when attached to your tool. If you only use your tools occasionally, and you leave the battery in, it will discharge a bit faster. When storing your cordless tools, Separate the battery from the tool.

Delta cordless power tool batteries CL 180B

My batteries also would not charge and I thought it was the charger. I then used some fine sandpaper and cleaned up the connectors on the batteries and I now have one charging. I will try the other one as soon as the first one is done. It looks like the charger doesn't contact the battery in the same places as the tools and they get dirty. I love my set and don't want to loose them. I just don't use them enough to need charging often.
