The light bulb is behind a plastic shroud change it first, then it can also be the door switch, they just pull out of the door frame and you can jumper these 2 wires to test the switch 0or use an ohmmeter to test the switch and bulb while disconnected from the unit

Refrigerater light not working on whirlpool gold

Turn power off, remove bulb and use a battery and piece of wire to check if it works OR use a circuit tester to check if there's any electrical resistance (if yes, bulb is shot and needs replacing) otherwise replace bulb and turn power back on.
Does the light normally come on when the door's opened? If it does then there's a switch that opening the door MUST operate. Find it, and with the door open, operate the switch. The light should turn on &off. Clean the switch - often fail with time and a buildup of gunge.

I can't get the light cover open to replace light bulb , is there a special way to do so?

Hi!!
Yes, there is a special and different way to replace the light bulbs, there are 3 light bulbs on your fridge, besides the dispenser lights. Click on the following link to get an Owners Manual for your unit, look on page 15 for light bulb replacement. http://products.geappliances.com/MarketingObjectRetrieval/Dispatcher?RequestType=PDF&Name=49-60412-1.pdf
Good Luck!! A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Refrigerator turns off and on (intermittently) unpredictably

There's probably something sticky inside the button between the plunger and the housing or the spring inside is weak. Try to clean it out. If that doesn't work then replace it.

Power and no lites in refrig/freezer; beeping

depending on age of unit, the problem may lie in the light bulb, well the door closing anyway, the newer unit s actuall will shut down all interior lights, in the evnet that teh door is left open for more then 2-3 min, so its possible that a light switch is not being activated so the uit thinks the door is open and has shut down the rest of lights, cooling however does continue normally.

Sub-Zero 680 - Service light flashing/need to change the filter

The service flashing means that you had a long run time over a period of time. You can reset it by turning the unit on and off or if you have a door alarm button hold that for 30 seconds and that will clear the fault code. If it comes back you have a problem that needs to be addressed such as cleaining the condensor. There is no factory filter on these units. If there is a filter it is most likely under the unit, which can be accessed by removing the kick. THe kick plate is held in place by two phillips head screws, remove them and have a look. If it was done by a "professional" they should have put an inline shut off valve for easy replacement of the filter.

Sub Zero Model 680 - Light in Fridge and Control Panel out

Try wiggling light switch side to side kinda hard, (the light switch is the one on the left) it should come on, showing you its a bad lt. switch.if that fails install 1 new 40watt,(long) appliance bulb. but it is going to be the switch or the bulb considering there wasn't any wiring work done on unit. part# for the light switch is 3060140 make sure the back of the switch is white not black (black is a fan switch) Good Luck !!!

Refrig lights go on and off intermittently when opening and closing refrig door

check door light switch with ohmmeter. Check for melted insulation near light "terminator". Look for wiring diagram in ziplock behind compressor grille. Second switch at door turns compressor off when door opened. I had these problems with a 695 which I would assume is probably similar in design.
