SOURCE: GFI plug is heating up

unless plug is bad u will need to check the motor or heater one of them is pulling high amps heating up plug--oil motor may help--but will need to check the amperage on the motor and or if heater is cause if no amp probe --when system is cooled plug in and turn down heat setting let motor for a while if plug heats up or motor goes off on over heat know problem is with motor or plug-if no change now add heater if plug gets hot and turns off when heater is applied know heater is problem

SOURCE: breaker on the end of

I have had a few troublesome units over the year that did as you describe due to 'dew' overnight collecting around the tub and the increased moiture sent the motor of the circ pump "over the edge" iinto a grounded state. A leaking pump seal was adding to the problem. Once the seal leak along with the dew got high enough the GFI would sense the grounded condition and trip. Fixing the pump seal and drying/cleaning the motor fixed the problem every time. If you find any other leak sources around the pump you will need to fix them as well.

I have a spa berry 2 person hot tub. Tried resetting it but as soon as I let go of the reset button it trips the breaker. Can't get it to stay on. Tub is 4 yrs old. Where do we start?

Melisa, Breaker/GFI may be going bad. You may have to get an electrician to check for short or faulty motor/heater, etc. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

Need to see wiring diagram on control panel in apa

Most common reason a gfi trips is the heater or blower have failed!
Unplug each one, one at a time...
whatever is unplugged/disconnected from board and the gfi stays on, that piece is the bad item and needs repair/replacement.

Hot gfi keeps tripping

You didn't specify how your pool is set up, but the GFI tripping means you have too much power, too many devices plugged into it. I think you need an electrician, just to be safe.

Qo260gfi not tripping

Question is not fully clear.

2-pole 240Volt gfci circuit breaker requires the white wire be connected to neutral busbar.

Easy solution for 240Volt spa that comes with gfci:
Replace spa gfci with regular non-gfci breaker.
Install 2-pole GFCI breaker in main panel, and connect wire to spa breaker.

Having 2 breakers is not a problem.
Having 2 GFCI on same circuit is a problem.

SR333NA keeps tripping gfi

You may have a short or leak that is introducing moisture in the blower fan area. Otherwise you have a short that is being sensed by the GFCI and it in turn is just doing its job. Arduous task of locating that short is now before you. It can be many things, without a little more definitive diagnostics to go on.

What's youI just wired in my J-300 Jacuzzi hot tub. The GFI trips every time I reset it. I took the GFI out of the equation and the tub runs fine, does not trip the breaker at the main breaker box

#1. DO NOT GET INTO TUB FULL OF WATER WITH A GROUND FAULT.
2. There is a short. You need to get multimeter and start checking each part for current running to ground wire.
3) Power is ON. Connect power without GFCI.
4) Tape tester leads to wood sticks to keep hands away from power.
5) Do not touch anything directly or you will become the ground rod.
6) Ground wire must be present, and bonded back to main panel box.
7) Do not sit or touch directly on cement or bare ground. Do not touch or lean into anything made of metal.
8) Body and parts must be on sheet of plywood, or similar non-conductive dry surface.
9) Test each part with spa, but also test electric line coming from main box.
10) GFCI will also trip with any fault detected on line. So the wire coming to spa may have the fault.
11) Add a new dedicated line from main box to spa.

I've had a problem like this. Can you safely power the pump from a non gfi outlet for a while? Once it runs and whatever is causing this condition dries out, you can plug it back into the gfi.

Colman Spa trips GFI what is most common problem? GFI test good. Pump disconnected still trips, is heater most likely? Can you replace only heater? thanks

this should be simple ...
1.shut off the power
2.disconnect wires to heating element
3. turn power back on and see if it works if so replace heating element 45-95 dollars

if it still trips unplug all the cables from the pumps blower ozonators and see if it runs now,,,, if so plug each cable back (one at a time) until it trips again.if it trips that the problem pump etc.

99 percent of the the time its not the gfi its a device that is wet or shorted out ..Try everything else before replacing the gfi

Ground fault interrupt (GFI)

I have a Whirlpool Model AD$)DSR1 Dehumidifier, with similar issues. When plugged in where it was operating for three years with no problems, it would trip the gfci within 10 minutes. I have it out in the garage right now with all the covers off, and I've had it running on a heavy duty outlet for about a half hour now. The compressor is too hot to touch (ouch!), and the condenser coils are only cool, when they should be quite cold. I am ready to judge that one of two things has happened: Either the compressor is bad, or the refrigerant has leaked out of the system.
