Possible failure of the fan motor or the capacitor to the motor. It will be good to test the voltage on the fan motor at the time of the AC start- when the compressor is running. If there is no supply it can be fault in the switch of the fan control.
If not as mentioned the fault can be due to the motor burn out or a faulty capacitor.

Frigidaire AC window unit, model fam185r2a (18,500 BTU) only cools for a few minutes before it cycles off and just fan blows. Then a few min later cool air cycles back on. Is this a thermostat issue?

The window units normally have a sensor thats attached to the front of the indoor coil. This controls the thermostat. I usually pull this sensor away from the coil because it stops cooling before the room is cool. It is attached to the cold coil so it senses the coil temp, not the room temp. You can normally see it when you remove the air filter. Don't break it! It may be a wire or small copper tube

I HAVE ICE SHOOTING FROM MY A/C UNIT

If this is a window unit then make sure the water is draining all out and don't run the unit on low the slower the fan speed the the colder the coil temp which on low usually the coil temp will get down to 32 deg which will form ice.

My fan wonT shut off

Good Morning Judy,

I understand that the fan will not shut off on your Frigidaire air conditioning and heat, air conditioner, model# LRA18HMT2, even when you have turned your appliance completely off. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit break, for 3-5 minutes. When power is restored, turn your air conditioner to any cycle and let it run for 5 minutes before turning it off. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your air conditioner status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Frigidaire 12000 BTU A/C window unit

The reason that it's doing that is b/c at first its running only with the fan butwhen the compressor clicks on it trips the breaker if you have other items running off that circuit "unplug them" [even turned off items can still consume some power]. Then try to running only the ac unit see if it works a 12000btu takes a lot to run, if this doesn't work the ac may be to much for your circuit to handle and a smaller unit may be needed.
