My kenmore dishwasher model 66516765 doesn't drain completely after finishing cleaning cycle

I have checked the drain hose by pumping water thru it with a small water pump. It appears to be clear. Att the end of the clean cycle there remains about 2" of water in the bottom of the unit that does not drain out. Is the only option to replace the entire motor unit? If so, it probably wouldn't be worth the cost for a 14 year old machine. What do you think?

I have decided to just replace the unit rather than trying to repair it.

First of all if there is some drain on at the time of the drain cycle , then it is confirmed that the program cycle is in order and the program controller is working perfectly .
Now this can be due to clogging of food particles in the drain which can reduce the flow at the time of the cycle. So it is be good to check on the drain hose, remove and backflush the drain pump/valve and the filters.
Now finally it is important that the washer is standing with a good level so that the water drains to the outlet in the position it is placed. If this is not the case then you should use a spirit level and set the dish washer to tilt very slightly to allow the water to flow with gravity to the drain. This will make the water fully drained off at the time of the cycle.

If you put the dishwasher in the cancel/drain mode, does all the water go out? there will usually be a small amount of water left in the sump area. you could also have a restriction in your drain hose, check every inch of drain hose.
could also be a worn out pump impeller. I have seen them ground down to the point where all the vanes are gone. Hope tis helps,

Doug

does the drain hose loop up as it comes from the dishwasher?. And does thewater seem to pump out at a pretty good pressure?
Probably is not the motor. I think you can buy an impeller kit pretty reasonable. When considering to repair a dishwasher or replace I always look at the racks. If they are starting to rust then I would not spend too much to repair as the racks are expensive. And also look at your overall satisfaction with the unit. If you've never been happy with the way it washes, then thats another reason to replace rather than repair.

Doesn't fully drain after cycle completed. How do I fix it?

most likely you have a lot of debris in the pump housing. you can remove the lower arm and then the cover from the top of the pump. clean out all the debris. and try again. if it does not drain replace the drain pump.

I have a 1776 Asko model & it doesn't finish its cycle-code mesage f-2 keeps appearing. Can you help me out.

Hi
F2 is a drain error and dishwasher not draining issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Also, check for any food pieces stuck near the pump impeller & clean the chopper assembly. Please note that dishwashers don't drain out the complete water such that heating element doesn't overheat. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Kenmore Model @16969990 Washing water doesn't pump out, cycle doesn't finish, attemptes to run other cycles default to "normal wash"

The drain cycle does not complete as the drain pump is not working the pump out the water. So unless the drain level comes down to reset the water level controller the program does not progress further.
So check the voltage during the drain cycle if voltage is present then the drain pump is faulty if not the main controller is faulty.
replace accordingly.

My kenmore ultra wash plus is not draining

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Dishwasher not draining properly or not draining at all issues can arise due to different reasons. Usually, these issues are related to kinked hoses, knocked out disposer unit (if connected with the dishwasher drain hose) & clogged drain pump & filter.

Also note that dishwashers do not drain completely after a finished cycle and this is normal. Dishwashers are designed to leave some water in the unit to ensure that the heating element doesn’t overheat. If you suddenly begin to experience a large amount of water being retained in your dishwasher, you have a problem. Some of the most common reasons include that the drain hose isn’t working properly, the drain pump isn’t working correctly, or possibly there is a plumbing problem in your home’s drain lines.

First check whether the drain is not clogged or blocked and the line is not kinked. Check all the hoses for blockages & also clean the air gap. Has the disposer been replaced recently? If so, chances are the knockout is still in place. Simply remove the drain hose from the disposer, and knock out the plug. If the disposer has not been replaced, try removing the drain hose from the disposer and use a wet-dry vacuum (prepared for water, of course) to **** any water (and hopefully anything else) from the drain line. Then reconnect the hose, and test the unit. If you have checked the air gap and the drain hose and can’t locate the problem, then it is an issue with the drain pump of the dishwasher.

Please do rate the solution and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Kenmore dishwasher not draining when finished full cleaning cycle

sounds like a cycle timer problem. Look for a loose wire on the cycle timer. If yours is a digital timer, it is a board issue. Sorry.
