GE Profile SxS Fridge Mod# PSC23MGPB BB Freezer side seems fine, fridge side not cooling down and sounds like unit is shuting down periodically. Could this be the mother board, damper fan or interface?

First thing to check would be to see if the unit is not going into the defrost cycle if you remove the rear panel on the inside of the freezer and check to see if you have an ice build up around the condensor area. while you also have this panel removed you can also check to assure that the fan located in this same area is working properly. Here is also a link on why this happens click here http://www.applianceoutletservice.com/appliance-care-tips/refrigerator-tips/refrigerator-defrost-system-information.htm if you do have ice build up you should take a hair dryer to defrost the ice that is built up around the condensor. Also if you do have this ice build up in order to find out which piece is causing your defrost malfunction you can performin with a multimeter continuity tests on the defrost thermostat and the defrost heater as well here is also a video on how to test the defrost timer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tPpLl2d0094 basicly if you pull off that rear panel and the fan is not working you would just replace the fan . Remove the rear panel first and message me back if you have an ice build up and we can solve your refrigerators warming up situation also if you have any further questions message me back with these as well note some models do not have a defrost timer instead they have a pcb board in which it controls the defrost system differently then the timer if you have the pcb instead of the timer and you feel that it is not either the thermostat or the heater message me back this information as well 87% of the time that this happens it is due to the defrost thermostat they are a very cheaply made piece and do short quite easily. Also please remember when our chat has FULLY CONCLUDED to rank how this opinion has helped in your appliance situation it allows me to help others in similar situations in the future Thanks for using Fixya

Hi,
First check the encoder control assembly. If the encoder control does not respond to the temperature rise until you move the knob, I recommend replacing the encoder control assembly part number WR55X10095. The only way to confirm the diagnosis is to test the encoder with a meter. The other possibilities are the main control board & temp sensors. These components will require using a meter for diagnosing also. If the encoder does not fix the problem, then you need to take to service center to get it repaired.

Hope this helps.

Not getting any water out of the dispenser, but its making ice

The water dispenser on my GE profile fridge stopped working for a couple days. The refrigerator and freezer temperatures have fluctuated over the past several months causing fridge items to periodically freeze and freezer items to periodically thaw. GE tech came today identified a bad circuit board, which he replaced for a cool $300. Ouch. Fridge is only three years old. Oh yeah, the icemaker also has a broken tab which causes it to jam every couple weeks. We have GE Profile appliances throughout our kitchen and they all work great except for the fridge :-( I hope GE engineers read this post. If so, get to work! LOL

My GE Profile fridge periodically (eve other n) leaks water

Thaw out the defrost drain in the freezer. It has frozen over and the defrost water has nowhere else to go except on your floor.
