What does PLII C CBL mean?

PL II = Dolby Pro Logic II

C CBL means Coax Cable, most likely your unit has the coax type digiital cable as opposed to OR in addition to optical type digital cable. http://assets.denon.com/documentmaster/us/avr-1613%20owners%20manual.pdf

No sound from tv to speakers

i assume you are hooking up from tv to receiver with an optical cable? Check the settings on your tv. Most tv's have a setting to turn on/off the optical audio output

I have my panasonic surround sound system installed, and all the wires are done right, but im not getting sound from the center speeker or the two rear ones.

Make sure you are in a "surround" mode. It might just be in a stereo mode now which is LF,RF, and sub. Since there is no model number, I'm going to guess, but most Panys have 2 buttons towrd the bottom. One labeled movies and the other music (or something similar). Press the movie button. Look for Dolby PLII, Dolby PLx, or something similar. If the video out of the unit is connected to the TV you can check the speaker levels. Some models will do a test tone to make sure all the speakers are connected and you have them in the right location. Some models even allow to chose between 3.1, 5.1, and 7.1. If this is a new unit it will default to the highest setting.

No sound "dolby digital flashes" all connections

the drivers might have been corrupted by something foreign or you might have got a virus run your antivrus program
if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
you might have to uninstall then reinstall both the sound drivers and the sound card make sure you have both of these devices backed up to a disc before uninstalling
a yellow? question mark means you need to install/update driver to do this
right click to install driver also
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select appropriate speakers also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have made the correct adjustments there

click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can make adjustments there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar
hope this helps

Bought a LG Blu ray DVD Home theater system last weekend and set up with LG lcd tv and has been working fine till today. We had the radio on and I turned the TV on and the two rear speakers do not work...

Hello,
In a surround sound system, the correct way to listen to music is in stereo mode which will play out of your left and right channels and your subwoofer. When viewing a movie with surround sound, then you should use your rear speakers. The key element to remember is that rear speakers are only intended to play your sound effects, and will not play full range audio. Thats what your fronts and center are for. If you simply want to override this, than you will need to select the direct sound field on your receiver and than it will send full range audio to all speakers connected. Most likely, its not going to sound that good. If you dont know what each sound field does, here is a list and function of the most commonly used ones.
Stereo-Front Left and Right speakers including subwoofer
Dolby Digital or PLII Movie-these are the bost options for your surround sound
Direct-All speakers connected get full range signal
Good Luck

I have a pioneer vsx 818 v amp, when I set it up we get noise / beeps etc from the surround sound speakers but then when playing a film in 5.1 we get no sound from the surround speaks ..driving me nuts !...

Hello,
To get sound out of your surround speakers, first off go through the receiver setup and make sure that is correct. Also, usually the best soundfields to use for sourround sound is PLII Movie or dolby digital. Next , make sure the source you are viewing is capable of outputting 5.1 sourround sound. Lastly, it is a good thing to remember that sourround speakers are only intended to reproduce sound effects. You certainly can override it so that all speakers play full range audio, but that is not the intention.
Good Luck

When I switched to hdmi2 today the display shows "PCM" for a few seconds, then displays the Dolby-sign and "PLII Movie". It used to show "Standard". What have I done wrong and what sould I do to fix it??

You have changed the Cinema mode to use some Dolby effects. Press the "Straight" button on the remote, it should turn off those effects (pressing it more times will cycle between some other options, but you need it to display "Straight").

DENON 1508 - If i switch on DOLBY PLII I here cracking sound

The Dolby processing IC has failed. The noise you are hearing is digital noise. There is nothing you can do with this other than sending it in for warranty repair. They will change the surround processing board and return the unit to you. Since it is cheaper for them to replace the board, the individual "parts" that failed will never be known. I have changed these in the field before. As a warranty service center we are required to change the IC first. Sending it in to the factory, they will just swap out the board.

you need to press system menu on the remote..

on the front panel display acually on the DAV unit "DEC. MODE" appears..

Press enter..

Press the up and down buttons to cycle through the options, what your looking for is "PRO LOGIC", "PLII MOVIE" and "PLII MUSIC" ..

Select one of these and this should work.
