Hi, well i tell you these units are a pain to get into the area where the wiring hooks onto the module... also there were a few variants, so the timer modules were different, this means one would have to have a service manual of the exact make model to even be able to source the bits, in the first place. This is the BIG problem, obtaining the exact parts.
My recommendation is to save yourself skinned knuckles and time and money, and call an an electrician for that "Quote'.

Hello laurie,
what is the make and model number of your westinghouse oven and grill. So the timer has carked funny lil word havent heard that one before but if you can supply the model number I might be able to find you a schematic for your unit the timer is basicly an unplug said wires and plug same wires the same way you took them off into the new timer. The hard part is getting to the timer are you mechanically inclined to be able to disassemble and put back together the unit with instruction? message me back your reply as well as the model number of your grill and we can start from there Thank you
Rick
p.s do not remove the old timer until you get the new one

if this is not your unit please recheck the model number it would be a much larger number and would also be found under the upper cover as well as along the door the repair is basicly to shut off the breaker at your electrical box ,pull the entire unit out if you have it inside of a cabinet area. Then you would loosen the screws along the back on the top panel and remove the top panel you would then remove the top panel giveing you access to the timer. You would then replace the timer unplugging the old wires and pluging each in the exact same locations on the new timer there might be a small phillips head screw that holds the timer to the front plant you would need to inspect how the timer is held in place to be able to take the old timer out . If you still feel not confident about doing this repair I would suggest that you call a qualified technician it is always better to be safe then sorry when it comes to electricity Thanks Rick

when you buy the ovens replacement
instructions are given in the paper work how to adjust the cavity to suit

there will have to be an air gap on back and sides of the new oven

you should call an electrician to wire in the new oven
to check , even replace the 1987 wiring and connections
if needed to meet the 2016 house wiring standards

you will need
tape measure
pencils
a square
straight edge
reversible hand drill and bits
two levels .... for inside the cavity to level oven
approx a 15 inch .one 6 inch
a hand saw or circular saw
, i found a jigsaw helpful

self tapping screws different lengths
as per the oven fitting requirements
you can use any paint to finish the job

white board or MDF board is ok

some extras strips of timber to level the new oven
maybe required

if imperial was used for the cavity of the old oven
metric might be for the new oven

The oven keeps turning its self off

It could be the thermal cutouts operating. First things first, is the cooling fan running and does it turn off about 10 mins after the ovens/grill are turned off? If it isn't running then the unit is overheating and the thermal cutouts will operate. If it is running normally, then the cutout could be switching in early due to them becoming old and ineffective. There are two cutouts in the oven. One controls the main oven and the other controls the top oven. However, the grill operates without the clock being set, i.e. it is independent of the clock. So, if both the top oven and grill stop working together, according to the wiring diagrams in the handbook, the only thing it could be is the thermal cutout for the top unit.
F.Y.I. The top oven switch controls both the grill and the oven elements. In other words, in its OFF position, the Grill works and the Oven doesn't and in its ON setting the Oven works and the Grill doesn't. However, I can't see this failing as you specify, but worth checking if you take the oven to bits. The Grill will only work if the oven door is down.
If you need to replace the cooling fan, you will have to take the whole unit out of the kitchen cupboard to gain access to the top and rear oven panels, which have to be removed to gain access to the cooling fan and wiring. If you do replace it, ensure all the vents for air circulation are free from dirt and grease before you put it all back.
Try espares for STOVES spares. If the item is not listed you can ask them for a quote.
Be aware that the cooling fan is controlled by a timer circuit board and an in-line resistor on the fan terminal block. Either or both of these two and or the fan could have failed if the fan is not running! Any competent electrician should be able to work out what has failed.
All the diagrams are in the Handbook. If you need a copy, supply an email address and I will send you a pdf copy.
If you do ask for a quote, I suggest you ask for prices for all the parts mentioned above, so once you have checked what has failed, you will have enough info on pricing and availability as to whether to proceed or not.

The oven and grill when in use switch themselves off after a while. They will switch themselves back on after a while.

STOVES 720ef Oven Programme won't go off automatic

This is a solution - of sorts - but probably not the one that you were hoping for.

My Stoves 720EF oven developed the same fault.

I tried pressing the buttons in various combinations and I tried switching the power off and on, restting the timer and the clock, no joy.

I then tried getting hold of a copy of the manual and trying to fix it, no joy. Called up Stoves and booked a visit from a specialist service engineer, costing £75 +VAT for the call out, and was advised that the engineer would attempt to repair it but it might need a replacement circuit board, costing a further £110 plus VAT.

engineer arrived on the appointed day and was straight onto swapping out the circuit board - not much scope for "attempt to repair" - so that was about £190 plus VAT to fix it. job took about 25 mins and didnt seem to need anything beyond what any electrician (or electrically-expert DIYer) could do.

comes with a 12 month warranty - hopefully it will work without any issues !

If you have a regular electrician you might prefer to buy the board and get your electrician to do the job - or do it yourself, assuming that you are suitably skilled and qualified.

hope this helps

cheers

David

Westinghouse Freestyle 476 Cooktop Oven

After getting an electrician out, apparently the time needs to be set on the oven. As we're in a rental & don't have a manual/ couldn't download one, we got it to work after holding the first two buttons in (the timer buton + the one that looks like a hot pot) along with the + button at the far right, which made the tim tick on, so it could be set.

The oven works now! : )

De Dietrich oven not working!

I suspect that it is the oven lock that needs replacing. I bought a De Deitrich oven (pyroclean) in Sept 2007. The oven failed to heat in Aug 2009. The oven lock needed replacing which meant the unit had to be removed from the wall. It was replaced under guarantee but failed again in June 2010 and was replaced at a cost of €140 by enginneer. I am very dissappoined in the oven and expected to have no problems with it considering the DeDeitrich name. I would not recommend it to a friend. By the way the clock is easy to use if you follow the instructions exactly. Oven used by two careful owners only.

The timer has broken and needs replacing

I had the same problem, we checked all the wires inside and all ok, so phoned stoves and they said that the it sounds like the timer as this is the first port

Replaced the timer and cooker is now working fine - only thing to remember when ordering the timer - my cooker is green and now has a red light instead of green

Hope this helps
