Depending on your wireless router you would need to login to your router and reconfigure your password. The instructions to login to your router is usually posted on a sticker on the bottom or the side of your router. It will say something like 192.168.0.1 which is the address you input into your browser to connect to your router. Default password/username is usually password/admin. However, if you have ever configured a new one you need to input whatever you have configured. Remember a computer with a ethernet cable must be connected to the router to do this. If you do not remember any password/usernames you can simply use the reset button (usually a small hole or very small button on the back of the router to reset the router completely to factory status so you can redo everything. Please contact your router manufacturer if you have any questions regarding this process.

How do I reset my password?

Step 1:
Wireless networking is a common feature in homes and offices. Wireless routers provide access to a single Internet source, and wireless passwords ensure that only select users can access the network. If a password is forgotten or lost, the password can be recovered or reset by accessing the router's Web-based settings menu. Most wireless routers also have a reset button, which is capable of returning the router to its default settings which includes resetting the password.

Connect to your Wi-Fi or attach your computer directly to the router with an Ethernet cable. Open your Web browser. Enter the default address of your router. The default address is listed in your user manual or on the product website. Linksys and 3Com routers typically use "192.168.1.1" while Netgear routers use "192.168.0.1." Enter your username and password. Many routers use "admin" for the username and password by default. Locate the wireless security settings. Disable the wireless security. Reset to Factory Defaults Locate the reset button on your router. Typically the reset button is a small indented hole on the back of the device. Insert a long thin object such as a paperclip and hold down the reset button for 30 seconds to revert the router to its factory default settings. Locate the wireless security settings and add security as necessary.

6.Release the button and turn off the router for 30 seonds and turn it on again.
7.Type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of the Internet Explorer and hit Enter
8.Enter the username and password (default password is admin and leave the username blank)
9.on the Setup page, make sure the Internet Connection Type is set to "Automatic Configuration-DHCP" and click Save settings.

If you have DSL internet connection, then all you need is to change the Step-9 and all the settings will remain same.

Step-9 (for DSL internet connection)

Internet Connection type should be selected to PPPoE and enter the Username and Password provided by your Internet Service provider. Then click Save Settings.

After completing all the above steps, turn off the Router for 30 seconds and turn it on after that. You can connect your wireless devices.

I hope this will resolve the issue.

Linksys wireless G router wrt54gs no connection

Did you try holding the reset button in for 30 seconds or more?

A couple times a year I have to reset my WRT54G back to the factory defaults. I have PC's and laptops connected via CAT5 and wireless. There are a couple of methods to resetting to factory default.

Reset Button Note:
Resetting the router to the factory defaults will delete any changes you have made to the router, including any security settings. This should be used as a last resort.

The first method involves simply pressing a button located on the back of the router.
To reset your router, use the following steps:
  1. Press the reset button for 30 seconds. The settings should now be returned to the factory default settings, meaning any changes you had made would be deleted.
  2. Open up your Web browser and enter “192.168.1.1′ in the address bar.
  3. For the login, leave a blank ID and enter “admin” as the password.
The router has now been reset. You'll need to go back in and set up any passwords or wireless security you had set up before.
Through the Web Administration Pages The second method involves logging into the Web administration pages of the router. Use the following steps to reset the router using this method:
  1. Open your Web browser and enter the IP address of your router. By default, the address is “192.168.1.1′.
  2. Enter your user ID And password when prompted. Hopefully this has been changed, but if it hasn’t, the default is no ID and “admin” as the password.
  3. At the top of the Web page, click “Administration” and then “Factory Defaults”.
  4. Beside “Restore Factory Defaults”, click “Yes”.
  5. Now click the “Save Settings” button at the bottom of the Web page.
The router should now be reset to the factory defaults. Again, you'll need to go back in and set up any passwords or wireless security you had set up before.

New laptop sees wireless signal and after entering password, I shouldn't have to enter password after subsequent restart of computer.

There should be an option you can check to use this connection every time Windows starts or to make it the default connection and save password.
