Question about Kenmore 24032\24036 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Water will not shut off, it just keeps filling up and running over the drum. It will only cut off if you turn it off and will not go into the wash mode

The cold water continues to fill the tub and not shut off

There is a pressure switch fitted to all washing machines.basically a tube outside the drum that has air inside it which responds to water going into the drum.as the air in the tube compresses it activates the switch to shut off the water and sends a new command to controller board to turn the drum and start washing.when it doesn't switch off tells me that the tube has too much water in it and won't shut off supply.you can locate the tube and empty it so it just has air in it reconnect and see if that fixes it.if it doesn't then next place to look is the switch itself and controller board.

Water entering machine but drum will not turn or start

Does the water just keep filling up, or does the water shut off after filling to a normal level?

If it just keeps filling, then your pressure switch or the hose leading up to the pressure switch is bad.

Does it make any unusual noises?

Cold water won't stop before rinse cycle

if it fails to stop running only at the rinse part of the cycle it is probably in the timer as the solenoid valve has to cut the water off when the washer fills for the wash cycle too. fills for wash cycle and cuts off water, washes and drains, refills for rinse cycle and water just keeps running? does this every time you run it? that's in the timer. bad solenoid (water inlet valve) would keep running even on wash fill up. hope this helps.

Front loading washing machine. Made by Jinan Hitone Electrical Appliance Co., Ltd, WM-3011 is the model, but I think it would have other names like Onyx. Been working well up till now (3years+). Today,...

it could be the motor controller. this part is resposable to drive the motor and other components like the electric pump. there is a chance that the combination of motor-controller be bad. try the controller first. is the most common to go out.

I have a kenmore 80 series washing machine and it will overflow if I am not there to cut it off.... what is wrong?

your overflow sensor has gone bad. Also called your water sensor. Meaning that when filling with water, the sensor is not telling to inlet valves to shut off. This part is located in the back of the washing machine. You will see a hose coming from the top of the washing machine running down the side of the drum.

Drum is filling with water after each wash

There is only 2 possibilities for the drum to fill with water after it has finished.
Firstly, if the empty pipe is connected to the sink outlet pipe, the water can syphon back into the washer if the pipe is too low, thereby slowly filling the washer when not in use.
Solution is to lift the outlet pipe higher.than the bottom of the sink.
The other reason is the inlet valve is not shutting off properly.
To prove if this is the case, turn the water off at the valve, if it is hot and cold fill, then turn the hot off only, and wait and see if water comes in over a period of time, if it does not then you need to replace the hot valve.
If water stills comes in with hot turned off, then you need to replace the cold valve.
If cold fill only , turn off cold and wait to see if any water comes in, if it does not, then replace cold valve.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

My drum of my washing machine fills with water when it is not in use. i have moved the outlet pipe many times but it keeps on doing it. should there be a cut off valve to stop the water returning?

You probably have a bad water valve that the fill hoses attach too at the back of the washer, if the solenoid is stuck open the water won't stop unless you shut it off at the wall.

Water will not stop filling washer

cut power to washer ..does it stop filling? suspect water level control or small hose to it is off ..keeps running in? shut off water to washer and change fill valve where hoses attach..just won't fill to top and start? raise level of drain hose up and be sure it is not too tight in drain pipe to prevent siphoning

Water keeps running.......

i assume washer never starts running if not suspect water level switch or connection hose also be sure small hose to switch is not plugged or mashed flat even a small hole in hose may cause it not to get pressure to tell switch drum is full ..if washer does start running suspect bad water valve may not be shutting off
