In the 4-5 months that I have had the htc Touch phone, the messaging system quits working. The shortcut icons under the time on the main page will become "outlined" when you select them (the two left ones) but no action is performed. The same happens when you select messaging from the start menu.
The first time I called support and all they said was to perform a complete reset--then re-set up the phone. What a pain. It has now happended again.
Nothing special was going on when it happened. Just driving down the road and the next time I used it, it was not working. Everything else works fine.
I do have an SD card installed, bluetooth running and Direct Push. I have reset the device many times. Removed battery and SD card several times as well. No change.
Any ideas short of completely resetting the phone? If that is the case, I may need to consider a replacement---htc or other! Just want it to work!!!

On android, move a Icon/shortcut: press and hold the finger on the icon and drag it to where you want either on the same screen in a different spot or to another adjacent screen then lift finger. To delete an icon/shorcut, do the same as for moving the icon but this time drag it to the 'Trash bin' symbol at bottom line/middle position of the screen: the icon should turn Red and lifting yiour finger will delete it. It takes a bit of practice but it is quite easy and safe as you can always get the icon back from the application folder.
How do I send and MMS from my device? On the Home screen, select All Applications>Messages>Compose message. Touch the To field to enter/select the recipient. Follow the below mentioned steps : 1. In the main menu touch the Messaging shortcut - the one with the envelope as an icon - at the bottom of the screen View - Messaging settings 2. In the Messaging menu scroll down and click on Settings at the bottom of the list View - Messaging - Email 3. In the Settings menu click on Email View - Email settings 4. In the Email menu click on Email accounts View - Add new email account 5. In the Email accounts menu click on the icon at the bottom left of the screen and select Add new View - Enter email account details in the form 6. You will need to enter all your email account information - name, email address, email servers, log on details etc. - into the online form View - Email accounts 7. Your new account should be listed in the Email accounts menu. Click on the Activate button to get started. In case of any additional help please reply back.
I had this problem ,also no notifications of voicemail as well as not being able to acces the messaging screen. I was just about to send the handset in for repair and decided to remove the 4gb micro sd card .turned the phone off ,removed the card,turned it on again ,bam messaging works again !! hope this can help someone else too :-)
