Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

This morning I was having a problem getting into my bmw, apparently because the battery was totally dead. Road service got into the vehicle and tripped the lock and now there are 2 codes I need. One is for a radio and an immobilization device. What can I do? It's for a 1989 bmw 750il.

Vehicle acts like dead battery but it is not.

It is a type of security system. Like you said all functions are turned off until you push button because battery is disconnected from system.

Door lock cause of dead battery

A dead battery, one recent cold morning, found me at the service shop. Tests indicated the system was charging properly with no battery drain. I asked if the test were done with the doors locked. They were not. A second test (car locked), revealed a misaligned trunk lock switch. Switch repaired, battery charged, problem solved.

I would start by cleaning battery cables top and ESPECIALLY bottoms. I know a pain, but the lower ends are exposed to road grime & grease. Also have your battery "load tested". Between all the electrics and the required voltage to run ignition, they can be a pretty big load on battery. (I have 93 M5 and it has same issues when I store it over the winter months)

If you got a spark from the fire wall I think the is where the - side of your bat. is bolted to for a ground. Make sure the ground is tight also make sure the batter cables on the batter do not turn when you grab thim if they do tighten thim up.Take the vehicle to Autozone ask thim to test the battery it is possible you have a dead cell...if not it is most likely the altanator, they can test it also but it has to be removed from your vehicle unlike the battery.

I hope this is of some help, good luck

My lexus E350 battery goes dead if car is not used for a week. Had the battery checked with dealer says it is OK

This has happened to me TWICE in the past 4 months. I had Lexus road side service come out both times to check the car out. Each time the battery was totally dead. The road side mechanic said that if the car is not driven at least 15 minutes nonstop a day, the battery runs dead as there are so many draws from the car on the battery. If you do alot of stop and start driving like I do, that isn't enough to recharge the cell of the battery, it must be non stop driving time. Recommend that I get a 1.5 tricky charge device an hook to battery at least one night a week to keep the battery charged. This is really frustrating with such a new car. I've spoken to other owners of other model luxury cars and no one has had this problem.

My battery is running dead every two days! I jump it and starts up, after several minutes with the jumper pack cables! This has happened 4 to 5 times since I purchased the vehicle just 2 weeks ago...Am I...

If the key is in off position it won't drain battery.
You may have battery draw in that vehicle , or the battery itself is going out.(BMW batteries are good for 4-5 years)
Both cases needs to be checked by workshop , cause BMW very sensetive to the voltage drop. When you disconnect battery you may need to perform some settings adaptation after you replace it or connect it back.
New BMW requared to reset computer even after brake job and battery replacement.

Service Engine Light on and die on the road for a while

Try going to your local auto parts store and have them check the computer. Doing so should tell you why your vehicle is not running right. Also it might be a bad Mass Air Flow Sensor that the dealer put on your car.
