Transmission fluid is almost black

1st your sure your not looking at the motor oil instead (that color is not good on motor oil either) , but if your sure your looking at the transmission fluid then id say that trans has problems ! a fluid /filter change is the place to start , but if that's no good and trans still doesn't work well then a rebuild is the best way to eliminate any problems

While i was doing off road driving a warnning light (a/t oil temp) turn on, i looked underneath the car and i found oil leak drop after drop, not too sure now should I change the transmition oil and filter...

Change the transmission fluid and filter. The light says fluid temp. is high, so you may have some burnt fluid-deadly for transmissions. Drop the trans. pan and look for metal shavings-too much will indicate failure of transmission parts. If not too much, you may be alright with fluid and filter change.
Stop the leak,. make sure it is trans. fluid, not motor oil. If motor oil, stop the leak and change oil and filter. I would do the transmission regardless, since the light came on.

Leaking oil

Your car has several different types of oils or fluids (motor oil, transmission oil, power steering fluid/oil, brake fluid, and differential oil - if applicable). . Before you can determine how to fix your problem, you need to determine exactly what you problem is, meaning you need to figure out what fluid is leaking.

Good Luck!

Bad transmission leak, steady, 1/2 qt. overnight?

The most probable cause of a leak that steady would be the transmission oil pan gasket. It is an easy fix and I would also recommend changing the transmission filter when you change the gasket. Hope this helps!

I have a slow leak of either oil or transmission stuff. the leak is coming from the front bolt of the two on the side of the oil pan. I'm thanking it's transmission stuff. is there any way you can verify...

" leak is coming from the front bolt of the two on the side of the oil pan". That doesn't help much. Which side? Anyway, you could change the fluid in the transmission to a different type of fluid so that it might be a different color or dye the oil in the transmission. Or, you could smell of it. Usually engine oil smells a lot different than transmission oil due to the natural smell being changed by the combustion contaminates being deposited in the oil.

If you're sure it's coming out of the oil pan, just change the gasket. It's not that difficult. If it continues to leak, depending which side it's on, it may be a simple fix as well. If it's one the right side, it's pretty simple. If it's leaking on the left side, not so simple.

Please repost and tell me which side of the bike it's on. Maybe I can be of more help to you with that information.

Good Luck
Steve

it sounds like the drive cupler or also known as motor cupler,,,tilt unit back and look underneath washer,,recomendid to have someone hold it so it wont fall forward on you,,then look for a plastic and rubber oreo cookie that is the cupler,,located between motor and transmission,,,second issue and a bit easyer door lid switch or safty switch,,lift cover and slowly close if you hear a click it is ok no click means no good,,,it shold click at the closed point,,if not unit beleaves door lid is always open and will not spin,,,also if unit aditates but no spin it is normally the door swich as well www.myabcspace.com/washerwizzards

Possible transmission oil leak

absorb the frluid into a white paper towell ... if it is red in color then its transmission fluid .... if its clear or brown then its likely engine oil ... if the transmission is leaking a little then there are additives that can be put in the transmission to soften the seals .. that will often fix small seal leaks ...if the leak is slight and not damaging driveways then its not likely to cause major trouble as long as you keep your eye on the transmission fluid level .. ... if its engine oil then you could have a leaking valve cover gasket, oil pressure sending unit (sensor) ... or it could be jjust from spills as oil is changed or added .

TRANSMISSION OIL LEAK

usually not to expensive and yes it is difficult if you just bought the car and never worked on it , i always go to a mechanics the first time. just check the fluid often dont run it low, until you get it fixed. its just a matter of removing the bolts that hold the plate on and then changing/flushing the trans fluid, filter. if you never done it i wouldnt attempt it alone .

Transmission problems

they should have suggested changing tranny screen and filter if tranny isnt maintained every 20,000to 30,000 you end up with gray like particles from normal wear wich get caught in the screen and valve body wich leads to erractic shifting valve body problems eventually tranny replacement number 1 rule oil changes on motor and screen and filter on tranny prevents premature wear longer life to two major key factors
