    LED is on standby!

  • wfrantzen Mar 22, 2011

The LED is on and as usual in standby mode!

  • wfrantzen Mar 22, 2011

So I would be able to put in a new power board by myself without any help of a repairman?
At the moment don't have the time to open up the tv and look for the board, can I get back to you on this?
Thanks for the help and the quick response, very much appreciated!

What is the status of the LED at the front? Is it on or blinking or in standby?

In that case this is definitely an issue with the power board. THere is a short or open circuit on the board which is impeding the unit from powering up. the easiest way to fix this would be to replace the board(costs about 75-100$). I can find you a replacement if you can get me the part number off the board. To do this you must remove the back cover and look for the part number on the board. If its a Samsung tv then the part number usually starts with BP-xxxxxxx . If you are unsure then get me the make and model of the tv so that I can give you an idea as to what the part number will be like.

Yes you can there are a few connectors that have to be unplugged from this board and plugged in into the replacement. All you have to be careful about are
1)ESD which can damage the board
2)Residual votages that may hurt you.
I will give you detailed instructions on replacement while avoiding these pitfalls once you get me the part number. And don't worry this thread will never close so you can take your time

My 32inch lcd tv keeps flickering it started all the sudden

TRY THIS

    • 1 Turn the TV off with the front-mounted power button, not the remote. Unplug the TV's power cord from the wall outlet. Let an hour pass before plugging the cord back into the wall outlet. Turn the TV back on with the front-mounted power button and wait until it has fully restarted. Bring up a TV channel to see if the image being presented on the LCD screen is no longer flickering. A momentary power surge can cause the circuitry inside the LG-brand LCD TV to function erratically.
    • 2 Unplug the video cable from the video connection on the back or side panel of the LG TV. If more than one video cable is connected to the TV, disconnect all of them. Disconnect the other end of the video cable from the video source device that it's attached to -- a DVD or Blu-ray player, or a satellite receiver or cable box. Blow off the connections on the video source device and on the back or side panel of the TV with bursts of compressed air. Reinsert one end of the video cable into the video source device and the other end into the video input that it was connected to. Turn the TV back on with is remote to see if the picture is now free of flickering. A loose or partially connected video cable can cause the LCD TV's screen to flicker when presenting an image.
    • 3 Turn the TV off and unplug its power cord from the wall outlet. Place a power conditioner next to the wall outlet. Plug the power conditioner's power cord into the wall outlet. Plug the TV's power cord into one of the AC sockets on the power conditioner. Turn the power conditioner on. Turn the TV on to see if the picture is now free of flickering. The RF signals in the electric line that the LG TV is drawing power from can cause flicking through interference patterns being generated.

Why does our TV go through the channell setup everytime we turn it on?

Hi Mary -

The first thing you should do is consult the set up procedures on Page 8 / Section 4 of the manual. This will assure that you have completed and exited this important section properly.

If the TV should lose power (power outage, blown fuse or circuit breaker, cord removed from the outlet, etc.) the TV will likely need to have the setup performed when powered again for the first time. Likewise, a TV that is plugged into an outlet controlled by a switch, will lose power when the switch position is changed. Since switched and un-switched wall outlets look the same, you will need to unplug the TV and plug in a table lamp or similar and operate switches to see if it goes out. You will need to try both the upper and lower outlets as they can be operated independently of each other. If you find that the outlet is switched, you will either have to stop using the switch or find another un-switched outlet to power the TV.

I didn't see it mentioned in the manual, but some TVs have a dedicated power and a dedicated on / off button. If the power button is set to off, the TV will shut off and the remote will not be able to turn the TV back on until the power button is turned back on. The on / off button on the TV allows the TV to be turned on and off with the remote - or the on / off button on the TV. Again, this will only work if the dedicated power button is on. If the power button is set to off, it may be causing the TV to lose the set up information - requiring that it be done again. Make sure that you are using the remote to turn the TV on and off - or the correct button on the TV if you do not have a remote.

If all fails, you might want to contact Sanyo directly. According to the manual, they can be reached at 800-877-5032. I hope this helps & good luck!

Hello, make sure power cord is pushed in all the way in to the tv. Also make sure you have power at your outlet. I know it sounds dumb, but I've seen people chase their tail for hours before coming to the conclusion that a circuit breaker was tripped. Make sure you have good batteries in the remote. If the TV has a power button on the tv, try turning it on there instead of the remote. You can check to see if there is an on/off switch in the back. Besides this it should be pretty straight forward. You might have a defective tv
Hope this helps

I pressed the power button, but the tv wont turn on

Please check if the power cord is connected properly in the wall outlet and in the TV. Check the wall outlet. Has it got power? Check if there is red light when the power is switched on at the wall outlet. If there is red light then press the power button. Does the TV turn on? If not then your power button is defective and requires replacement as it is not making contact. Also please try to start your TV WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL. At times it helps.

Try a different outlet or power strip. Try different ways to turn TV on such as power button on TV or by remote. If nothing else works and no led lights on you may need to have Service Tech look at it.
