Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

LG LED 42LE5300. We just bought this TV last week. When we first installed it, we noticed uniform horizontal tiny lines on the picture. We tried to change the cable box, use high res. HDMI, even tried playing blue ray disc on it, but still had the lines. We were going to return it, but one evening, we turned it on, & it was clear, w/ no lines. We thought that was it, a few days later, the lines are back. What can we do to fix it? Or do we just need to replace the TV? We're very disappointed w/ the problems this new TV is giving us. Please help.

Does any OTHER TV show the same problems when connected to that very same cable connector? It could be a bad connector, or a bad crimp on the connector! Did you try cleaning the center wire on the (disconnected) cable connector? I'm talking about the WIRE cable, not the TV connection!

It sounds like the video board has a fault. You should take it back to where you bought it and try and get a replacement.

HOW DO I FIX MY LG 42LE5300 TV?

Back - light problem. Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

Some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement.
