Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Based on your post, the good news...It is likely nothing very serious, but the "resolve" requires some investigation on your part.

What the F2 means is the control has indicated a overfill.

**before proceeding turn the dishwasher power off via the home breaker panel, or unplug it from the wall if that is possible...most are hard wired to the home electrical...safety first**

The first thing to do is remove the toe panel/kick plate and inspect the base for water. There will likely be water present.

With the aid of a sponge, towels, or a wet-dry shop vacuum, absorb the water from the base, that should restore normal operation...it should be known that if you leave the unit for a few days, the water in the base will evaporate hence appearing as everything is fine again...if any other problem/leak does exist it will return.

If the unit works fine after resetting the power/breaker and soaking up any water present, it can likely be chalked up to a drain back-up or obstruction in the drain hose or pump...
(it could mean a faulty drain pump so you'll need to pay close attention the next few times you run it)

**The float is primarily the last ditch safety to prevent disaster in the event of a overflow, back-flow, or leak underneath the unit and the illuminated
F2 letting you know to service or call for service to the unit**

Hope this helps move you forward, or even better resolves the issue altogether. Let me know of course, I will help you move further if necessary.

Good luck.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Why is it blinking f2?

Whirlpool

F2 = Long Drain error code.

If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes, the water valves are turned off and “F/02” is flashed.

Press, PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.

NOTE: After 4 minutes the “Sud” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the "F2 error code" will be displayed.

Potential Causes:

(1) Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.

(2) Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running.

(3) Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects.

If the above does not correct the problem replace the pump.

Pump continually running with F2 displayed.

There is water in the lower pan that you must access by removing the toe kick plate and then the panel behind it. you will see water in the overflow area. Clean that out and all will be well. Asko's are awesome dishwashers that capture any water they may overflow or leak internally instead of it going on your floor, then a float switch triggers the F2 error and runs the drain pump.

An "L" keeps flashing on my display and I cannot

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly (What is your model number please?)
That L is a child lock function. Try holding down the Air/heat dry button for more than 4 seconds. When the L stops flashing you should be able to hit pause/cancel and then start your next cycle. If this does NOT work... I need your model number so I can get you the correct procedures.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I have a Bosch SHU5316UC dishwasher. The last two times it ran, my wife says the display said "CL" (for clean) after running through the cycle, but she heard a "motor running" until...

P stands for program in computer algorthms. The device displays program whenver chages were made to the default settings. A powered on devices least has malfunction only requires reseting to attaon default features. Depending on the type of device, reset would be a button that is pressed held for an extensive duration to clear the entire corrupted data to make way for default. Refer to the device user guide also for further asssistance.

Drain pump keeps running and F2 error

This is caused by the "anti flood" system being activated. Consists of a polystireen float and micro switch at the base of the washer. Once water leaks / spills are detected it activates and puts the washer in pump out mode only. You need to dry the base / check for leaks / rectify leaks (normaly a small hole in pipe or pipe clamp).
