Question about Acer Aspire One PC Notebook

2 Answers

Hi. My mini laptop Acer Aspire One stopped working. Soon after startup, but still on black screen it is showing "no boot drive, please replace the drive and press Enter" Because it is after warranty, I removed the hard drive, and placed in portable hard drive enclosure, and then connected to my desktop computer, to see if hard drive is working. In my computer it was showing hard drive but every time I clicked on that drive there was on access, and was telling that drive is not connected or somethink like that. Then I openned disc management tool and then I found that this hard drive system was RAW. I serched internet for answers, then I decided for format this hard drive to FAT32 sytem. Hard drive is working now on my desktop computer. I replaced the hard drive back to Acer Aspire One. Now the problem is. How I can install windows on it. I have copied Windows XP instalation disc to flash drive, Acer can't boot, this way. I connected external CD/DVD with Windows XP in it, Acer can't boot, this way to. Now I'm stuck. Please help. Andrew

You need to set up the boot sequence on BIOS..for example..if you will use cd/dvd you need to make sure that boot sequence priority is cd/dvd rom on 1st slot

Acer is going straight to a black screen after the acer logo in startup....it just shows a tiny blinking line. It goes no farther. I need help fast

Apparently your Acer cannot find the operating system. As soon as the Acer logo comes up, there should appear in one of the bottom corners "F" & a number should appear. Immediately start pressing that F number (top row of keyboard). This should take you to a boot screen. Scroll down to boot sequence. Hit enter. Make sure boot-up sequence is CD or floppy drive first, second should be HDD, then escape. Restart computer. Should then boot off CD drive. I am assuming you have an operating system (XP, windows, etc.). Let me know if this doesn't work.

I have an Acer Aspire 3050 and it only goes to a black screen that says "Operating system not found" Help Need this working again...

OK, best case scenario is your hard drive is corrupt, worst case, hard drive is dead.

What to do - you could download the hirens boot cd and see if you can rejuvenate the hard drive firstly by going into mini windows and check if you can see the C: drive in windows explorer, if you can thern running chkdsk c: /f might sort it for you.

There are other utilities in the hirens disc that could help but that's where I'd start.

If you're not confident doing this then you might need to take it to your local pc engineer.

On startup of my acer aspire 5315 laptop i get the message " no bootable device insert boot disk and press any key"and nothing i have tried can get me past this screen.I can't even get get into...

Hi Charles, I apologize for the inconvenience. In this case what you could try is to get into the BIOS screen for the laptop by pressing the F2 key as soon as you turn on the laptop.Once you are in the BIOS screen please use the right arrow key to select the tab "Boot" below boot make sure that the hard drive is the 1st boot device(you can change the order by using the F5 and F6 keys) and then load the default settings in BIOS using the F10 key and select "YES" and the computer would restart once.In case after performing the above steps the issue still persists then the issue is with the hard drive on the laptop not being detected and if the computer is still covered by warranty please contact Acer and do get the laptop repaired or else you could have a local technician replace the hard drive for you.
Best wishes for your effort.Thank you for your time and patience.

Black screen after turn on

That "Blue Screen" is also known as "Blue screen of Death".

The problem is due driver compatibilty or unstablity.

Try to boot your system to "Safe Boot" by pressing F8 during startup.
Select "Last know good Configuration that works"
Check if it can take you to desktop.
Unstalled the wi-fi driver and reboot.

If the above procedure fails, again
Try to boot your system to "Safe Boot" by pressing F8 during startup.
Select "Safe boot"
Check if it can take you to desktop.
Unstalled the wi-fi driver and reboot.

Now create a restore point  and download the lastest version of your WI-Fi driver and installed.

This should work fine.

Otherwise Backup all your important data from your hard drive (mainly opearting system file installed drive usually C:\) and go for a new Installation.

ACER laptop, CD/DVD not working

Hi there

Thanks for posting your problem on fixya

It means your CD/DVD player is not attached properly. Please restart you laptop and go to bios

To go into Bios -- Press del key as soon as the pc restarts.

You would see a black screen as soon as you del key. Please check on boot priority and check there if you can see your CD/DVD there it means you CD/DVD player installed properly.

Please take you laptop to some hardware shop and if its in warranty period then go to service center

Thanks
Robert
