Question about Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

I am installing the CD Reciever in a Vintage Airstream Travel Trailer. The power wire, ground wire and speaker wires, should be no problem. (Neg ground) do I need the Mute, Illumination and remote? I only have the diagram on the box with the color codes. Can you advise? Thanks. David Stokes.(stokescyn@cox.net)

1)The mute cable is to mute your CD Receiver when you get a call on your mobile phone. You will have to buy a car mobile dock for your phone and it will have a mute wire on it, which you will have to connect to your CD Receivers mute wire.
2) The illumination wire is to be connected to the headlight switch of your car. In some CD Receivers it will turn on the display at night along with the headlight. On some models it dims the back light at night along with headlight so that the bright light which is needed during the day does not distract your driving at night.
3) Remote wire is for triggering another device along with the CD Receiver, like an additional power amplifier or a Sub woofer etc.

there will be only 1 power wire for the brake lights as they are connected .together. What you are looking at are the indicator lights (1 left wire and 1 right wire)

Have a 1998 wild travel trailer and need to

Hello. I can help you. Your gas furnace only needed a small amount of electrical power to operate. The electric heater on the other hand will need a lot more power and most likely will need 220 volts as opposed to 110 volts for the gas furnace. Therefore, a new line to feed your electric heater, sized appropriately will have to be run from the electrical panel to the electric heater. I recommend that you have a pro do this wiring job for you as there is no room for error. Good luck with it.

As long as you have connected the ground(black) try adding one wire at a time to the live(red). If possible try connection each wire one at a time to the power line and then both together. If nothing has blown(fuses) and the unit starts working then you can try by trial & error method the remaining wires. You should be able to figure out which wire is required and if there are any extra wires like cellular phone(mute) and then decide whether to connect them or keep them open.....sodeep
