You can use that optical out from the TV but you will need to enable the digital out in the sound menu on the TV. and set it to Dolby. you will probably want to disable teh tv speakers as well, or turn the volume all the way down on the tv or you will have a pretty bad echo.

Sony Bravia KDL 32EX400 stuck on channel one

It sounds that the main system memory IC has damaged. Before make it sure, just make a hard reset to this set, and check whether it helps you. To make it a hard reset, just unplug the AC cord from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 30 minutes or so.
If this do not help you, check and replace the main system memory IC.

Kdl-46v5100 tv now dos'nt recognize hdmi.says no

Try another HDMI cable. I have seen them become defective. If it is not the cable, then try another HDMI device to test the TV.
Without an HDMI cable tester, and a way to measure the output of the HDMI source device the only way to resolve this is with the process of elimination.

Have a sony KDL - 46v5100 volume problem

Tap the "Theater" button on the remote. You should see either "Theater Mode: On" or "Theater Mode: Off". If it is off, tap it again to turn it on and wait for it to go away. Now tap again (should say "Theater Mode: On") and then press and hold it for about a second. This should actually turn it off, as opposed to just pretending to. Works on my larger Sony KDL.

just plug your satellite and dvd player in to your tv. and simply take an extra set of red, white, yellow wires and us use the red and white wires to connect fron your tv output to your surround sound system's input. now you should have surround sound for everything included local tv stations from your tv antenna

How do i connect to sky hd and sony kdl 40w 4710 and dav-is10 i have hdmi from skyhd to tv and hdmi from home cinema to tv what else is required as i cant get surround sound from tv

you need a Optical audio cable, run this from the back of your Sky HD box to the Surround sound. Not all Broadcast are transmitted in DD so press your i button on the sky remote and you will see this on the yellow bar above the program information if it is..

Might be worth running a set of White and Red audio cable from the HD box to the Surround sound as well that way you can just mute your telly and have the lot coming through the surround sound system.

Hope this clears things up for you

Sony surround sound hookup

In short, the answer is: Hook up all three to each other. I have a Samsung DLP HDTV, and I was trying to hook up a Sony DAV-HDX500 home-theater system and a Comcast HD set-top box, but I found that the Sony user guide is helpful only for setting up the speakers. Most of what it had to say about HDMI and getting the TV sound or cable sound to go through the speaker system was wrong (or, at least, it didn't work for me). So, here's what I did. I connected Component video cables (Y/Pb/Pr out) from the Cable box to the TV (Y/Pb/Pr in), audio cables from the Cable box (audio out) to the Sony system ("SAT/Cable" audio in), and an HDMI cable from the Sony system (HDMI out) to the TV (HDMI in). This allows me to 1) watch DVDs with surround sound through the TV's HDMI source (when the "DVD" format is selected on the Sony system), 2) watch cable with surround sound through the TV's Component source (when the "SAT/Cable" format is selected on the Sony system), and 3) watch cable WITHOUT the surround sound, as I did before I ever had the Sony system. One item of note: When watching a non-HD channel with the surrond sound on, the audio is slightly out of synch with the video; thankfully, there's no such problem on HD channels. Anyway, I hope this helps. It drove me crazy for two days straight!
