What to do with brother PC-8200 motherboard fails

If it's an internal card reader, usually it plugs into the motherboard using a USB header. Try using another header port on your motherboard-- also ensure the card reader is getting power.

Hope this helps!

How to install a sd card reader on a Dell Dimension 8200 PC Desktop? no 4 pin usb on motherboard?

I managed to install a card reader on my Dell Dimension 8200.

The main problem is that the Dell motherboard does not have the correct USB pin. This is a 9-pin MoBo USB header.

The quick answer is I installed a USB card with an internal port.

Secondly I reverse mounted a powered 4-port USB hub in the spare 3.5" bay.

Third, I purchased 2 USB 5 pin male to usb leads...

You cannot buy a USB card with 2 internals and do away with the 4 port powered USB hub because the card reader does need to be connected to a powered USB port.

Where should i plug in the card reader?

Most card readers use the USB conection method. If your card reader has a compact flash slot, then it may need an IDE connection (used for hard drives) too. Depending on your operating system, you may have a driver issue - no drivers, no visible device.

Mitsumi 7 in 1 card reader

There are two cnnections required on the back of the card reader.
One is for the Floppy drive. It is flat and wide cable.
The other is a black cable with a smaller connector. This is a USB connector that needs to be plugged into your motherboard.

These USB connections are usually near the bottom right of the motherboard where you connect the power switch and LED lights. They usually have 9 pins. See this link and loko at the third picture so see what i'm talking about.

If you don't have a USB connector on the motherboard.. you'll need to purchase an extension card or an adapter that will plug into a usb outlet on the front of back of your computer.

Best wishes...

Where to connect card reader?

Easy, if you find where your front usb port is connected you'll see some odd ports that have 10 pins slots one of which has a missing pin, either in the lower left hand corner or in one of the center pin positions. Find the one that matches your generic (usb) card reader and plug her in. The card readers that come prebuilt in computers now are based on usb technology and fit into the same slots as the USB connectors. In fact if this is on a 915G it should plug into one of the JUSB1 or 2 slots.
