What about my last comment regarding the blinking? Does 20 total blinks mean anything?

  • skipperone1 Aug 04, 2008

Now it blinks... on, off, on, off... kinda of like 1 blink pause, then 1 blink pause, then 1 blink then pause and it does this for a total of 20 blinks..... what can I do with this code? Thanks, John

Ok the 12 code means no error detected. Try this you will see three small wire plugs that run from the convergence yokes on the picture tubes. not the three big plugs, they will be real small plugs all identical. try unplugging them and then try powering up the set. But remember where each one was plugged so you can plug them back in correctly.

TWO QUESTIONS:

1.) DOES POWER LIGHT JUST BLINK?

2.) IF POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A SECOND OR TWO AND GOES OUT, do the self check this set has:

when light goes out press and hold both the menu and input (device) buttons at the same time on the front of the set for at least five seconds and release both.

Power light in this case will blink a two digit error code like 2 blinks, 2 blinks, a pause and repeat it several times.

Let me know what error code you find and I will help you.

Mitsubishi Model WS 55511 was made in March of 2003. I turn it on and it goes right back off again. On the front of this TV I only have an Enter button, a menu button. an A/V Reset Button and a Device...

Device is the same as input--try the self check, when power light goes off press and hold it and menu at same time for five seconds and release.

Device means input.

Let me know error code and I will help you more than anyone else.

Tv won't power on. WS-55511. Diagnostic is 1 blink then 2 blinks.

The Tv needs to have a system reset that is what the blinking light means. here is how to do.

Use the System Reset button. If this happens frequently, obtain an AC line in power conditioner / surge protector.

Have a Mitsubishi 55 rear projection WS55511

NEXT TIME IT SHUTS DOWN: when green light goes out on THE FRONT OF THE SET: press and hold BOTH the menu and input buttons at the same time for at least 5 seconds and then release.

This is the self check this model has---power light should blink a two digit code---for example--two blinks, a pause and two blinks and the set will repeat the error code about 10 times.

1 blink and then 2 blinks is NO ERROR DETECTED
2 blink and then 2 blinks is short protect

ETC.....Let me know if you get an error code and I will tell you what the problem is---hope you find 2,2 that is the most common and the most easy to repair.

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD “device” and “menu” buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem

******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC and shut down.

SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

IF IT IS 2 AND THEN 2---USUALLY

Same problem powers on for a couple of seconds

If the code is two blinks short pause two blinks long pause then repeats then over 95% of the time it's because the convergence output IC's need to be replaced as they are drawing too much current. A 2-2 code means overcurrent shutdown.
