I have the American Standard Champion 4 toilet. Water is leaking from the tank to the bowl causing the toilet to refill. I've replaced the flapper and cleaned the surface the flapper contact. Nothing seems to work.

SOURCE: American Standard Champion toilet keeps running

Readjust the float. the longer it is the more leverage the fill water will have on it. good luck. The fill valve does come apart and cleaned if there is debri in it. Turn the water off first:)

SOURCE: hole in back of toilet (stool) leaks water.

The hole your refering to is common in the manufacturing of toilets and is generally filled before it leaves the manufacturing. I have repaired several toilets, new toilets, all American Standard, using a good grade of epoxy - not silicone. I used West System epoxy as this is made for marine projects and surprisingly states "toilet repair" as one of the uses of their product. I'd suggest carefully chipping the smooth porcelan around the hole to give the epoxy something to grip. Use a knife or screwdriver to gently chip the edges and make sure the area is dry. Press the epoxy into the hole and give it enough time to cure before putting it back in service. Of course, if the toilet is less than a month old I suggest returning it and getting a new toilet.

SOURCE: American Standard Hamilton Toilet Leaking

You have installed the parts improperly. You must have 3/8 of an inch slack in the chain from the flapper to the handle when flapper is closed.

My American Standard low water consumption toilet is leaking water. It is not the flapper, as the water level drops below the flapper seat. How do I fix it? I'm not sure of the model, but the tank is...

Did you try calling or emailing the parts dept. at american standard? I am not sure if they just sell the gasket. American standard parts are certainly different from most toilets. I looked on ebay, not much for american standard toilets. Were you able to remove the four screws and get the sealer under the gasket.? I will do some more research for you and try to find parts. take care, andy

Problem: water tank running water and refilling itself

probably the flapper valve is not seating correctly over the outlet. you can fix it by reaching in and twisting the valve one way or the other till it seats properly and the leak will stop.

My toilet runs! the flushing flapper is all brand new and it still runs after it flushes, not all the time, but about 75% of the time. If I wiggle the handle it will stop. It is a 40year American Standard.

More than likely the chain for the flapper is getting underneath the flapper. Shorten the chain length to avoid this. If that does not solve your problem then make sure the flapper is aligned properly with the hole. If it is off just the slightest it will not fully seal.

My American Standard toilet flushes okay but when it is filling up the water will not stop running unless I lift the top and depress the lever.

Replace the fill valve. You can pick one up[ at Home dep or Lowes for about 20 buks. Close your angle stop at wall behind toilet. Drain all water from tank then remove supply loine from under tank. Then unscrew fill valve and remove gasket and all. Remember to put gasket in new one. :)

American Standard toilet constantly runs

The rubber cork thst lifts when you press the handle is leaking by and causes the water level to drop below shut off level so it trys to maintain the the shut off level every minute or so. Replace the cork with one made with the red rubber. good luck
