Question about Hoover U5227-930 Elite Upright Vacuum
First lay the vacuum on it's front side and remove the bottom plate covering the agitator. It is usually held in place with 2 tabs, although there may also be screws. The upper cover can be removed next. Pry it loose by inserting a screwdriver along the outer sides. There are usually small arrows molded into the base indicating the places where tabs hold the cover on. You may want to pull off the heigth knob on top of the cover first. Place the new belt ( #38528040), around the agitator, and push the belt through the opening in the base. Next the belt must be stretched around the motor shaft. This will require some strength, as the belt must be stretched a fair distance. It is best to use a strong screwdriver as a lever.
