Question about Computers & Internet

My Toshiba P300 notebook has fallen to the ground. The screen was cracked but worked. I did replace it and it worked a few minutes and now it is black. When I connect my laptop to an external monitor there is no problem. But switching with Fn +F5 is not working. The external monitor flickers but is not switching. I also replace the flat LCD cable.

Sounds like your inverter (backlight) has gone, if this is the case you should see a very very feint screen, otherwise recheck your cables have not come off since you replaced the screen.

Check to see if the flat lcd cable is plugged in right, maybe it was loose when you closed it.

Toshiba p300 -1a8 asking for "BIOS"

You need to reset the contents of the flash eeprom that stores values like the password, serial number, MAC address and OEM numbers. This can often be acheived by removing and replacing the CMOS battery, which is (usually) located on the motherboard. You may have to disassemble the laptop to get at it.

When turning on my Toshiba Satellite Pro P300 it stays on the Please Wait screen for over 10 minutes. Whats wrong and how can I fix it?

Does it ever go past that point? If not try reloading your Operating System using the F12 boot with the DVD and Restore disk in drive. It is NOT supposed to do what yours is doing, as you noticed. Reinstalling the OS will fix your problem.

How broken is the LCD? if it's cracked then you have to replace the screen itself. Otherwise follow the flowchart at www.bootmylaptop.com to troubleshoot the issue further.
