Question about Cameras

1 Answer

I am in France on vacation from USA and am really bummed as My Sony Cybershot DSC-W370 will not close. The display says "Turn the Power off and on again". I've done this several times with no results. I am staying at a remote villa with no phone service. Can you help me via email? I have had many Sony cameras in the past and have preferred this to my Canon since it is so hard to carry. As I recall previous similar problem was resolved by a reset hole I pushed a pin into but I see no reset pin hole. Thanks, Del Orser My serial number is 195526

I appreciate your attempt to help but I had already done this. Perhaps there is another person that can help me. If you have access to the a mnual that would be great as I left mine at home. I think perhaps it may explain how to reset it by holding down the off and on button or some other means. Thanks,

If it does not have a reset button ..and do not want to turn off ...it means that it is frosen for some reason and do not want to get any commands...My advice is to get into the menu if you can ...and look for factory reset ...or reset all ...or default to factory settings ...Any of these function ...no mater how is named will do the same thing ..and reset it to original settings ..After that ..if it do not want to close...Just open the lid and remove the batteries...and leave it like that for a while ...a few minutes or so ...Insert them again ..and try to see if it works ..

here are all the manuals related with this model ..and I studied them all over again and I can tell you for sure that there isn't any reset button as you expect ...so ..either reset from the menu ...and hope it will work ..or I think it is a malfunction at the off button level ..and it isn't much you can do ...I do deal a lot with cameras ..and I never heard about anything like it ..unless the button was defective ...try to see if you press it a few times ..maybe it gets back ...to function ...but I doubt ..

I accidently droped the camera while it was on. Now the camera does not power on and also the lense is not closing. The model of my camera is Sony dsc-w370.

Hi,

The Lens Mechanism may be stuck or may be affected by any malfunction. If turning the power on and off again does not resolve the issue, try doing a power reset and Initialize option.
Performing a manual power reset
Turn off the camera.
Remove the battery pack.
Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.
Reinsert the battery pack.
Turn on the camera.
To reset the Camera back to factory default, select the INITIALIZE Option from the Main Settings Menu of the Camera to OK. This will set the user defined settings back to factory default. The images and videos will not get deleted.
If the issue persists, service may be required.
Thanks for contacting FixYa.

When I turn on my Sony Cybershot DSCS950, I get this message: "Turn the Power off and on again." Is this something manageable, or does my camera have a terminal problem?

Hi Unfortunately not, it has lens unit defective. You can bring to local repair shop and they will charge around $45 to 95 depend on what they really want to charge. Thanks and best regard!

My Sony Cybershot. DSC-W370 will not turn on

For me honestly I had the battery in backwards, its not supposed to fit backwards but for me it slid in normal. Line up the pins on the camera inside to the battery contacts. I felt dumb assuming the battery should have been fine, putting it in at least 8 times.

I keep getting the message: Turn the power off and on again. Just bought the Cybershot DSC-W370 tonight and it worked fine, until the battery was charged. ???

Why don't remove the battery? First, switch off the camera then remove the battery. Wait for 5-10 mins then put the battery back on and charge it straightaway. remember to leave the camera off while charging. let it charge full then unplug and switch the camera back on. let me know if this works for you.
