The volume works perfectly when not in cd changer mode. Once in cd changer mode about 3 speakers dont produce sound that do when not in that mode and the volume on the head unit stays at med-low. volume control shows 1-30 and will increase or decrease when you turn the knob but does not change the actual volume level while in this mode. hope this clarify's more clearly

WHEN YOU SAY UNIT DO YOU MEAN THE STEREO HEAD OR THE CHANGER.....

  • MARK LOVELL Mar 22, 2011

ok... i will get my son to check for dust. but...........how do you reset the system... he is running a alpine head unit that works perfectly when not in changer mode. also there is a cd stuck in the stereo itself. he was afraid to try to get it out so he bought the cd changer. could the stuck cd also have something to do with it. i must say again though the stereo works great in all modes even playing the cd that is stuck. it is just when he goes to the changer mode. so i will get him to remove the stuck cd from the stereo, look for dust in the changer itself and blow it out with canned air and then with your direction on your next reply tell me how to reset the system. i know there is a reset on the stereo.... is there one on the cd changer???

Hi,

According to you the sound controller doesn't work while your player is in changer. Look It may happens for the CD changer may stuck with internal volume control unit. Dust also may probable cause for this problem. So first clear the dust. You can open the top panel to check if there is problem in sound controller unit. If can't find any problem then Reset the total system, it may solve your problem.

Your unit is in need of service or replacement.
1. the logic controller on the main board is failing and is possible due to a regulator or filter circuit or infrared receiving circuit . Cannot be diagnosed here>
2. an electronic technician need to repair it.

If the controller is in the Stereo head then that will need service.
logic to the cd changer is controlled by a programmed logic.
They work in tandem with response from a remote signal sent to the controller that has a infrared receiver.

Is the volume very low or very hight./Also every time you turn off then turn ON the unit.Does the volume gets stuck on the same setting.Or it stuck at low or high volume.May be its possible that volume control button is got loose and its actually not functioning. Its just got loose from the cd changer unit.Press the button bit hard or spin the button by pressing it hard. Check the volume control button.------------Keep updated,.Thanks.Helpmech.

I cant hear the music very well... it is very faint and i have my speakers plugged in. how do i turn up the volume? i cant find any buttons to do so.

CD changers don't normally drive speakers (the lack of a volume control and speaker connections being a HUGE clue). What are you using for a speaker amplifier?

Use the main control knob. The one that turns your volume up and down. If you press it in it should go through bass, treble, fade, balance, and sub. Then use that same knob to adjust it by turning it left or right.

The tact switch behind the panel is being pushed in by a defective front panel button, the small switch is bad behind the button, or the volume control IC is bad. Good Luck

There is adjustment for bass, mid and treble. Access this by pressing the button to the right of the volume knob. I leave mine set at +1/2, -3, +2 . I also set LOUD on which is done by holding the same button down. With these settings everything sounds pretty spot on, occasionally need to adjust the bass up/down and treble dependant upon the CD.
