Question about Radio Shack Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

Hi, I have an old radio shack calculator, an EC-4030. Someone must have played with the settings, because now it rounds all numbers (i.e. 10 + 1.6 = 12, not 11.6). This causes problems when I want to see the decimal places. I looked online and there were lots of suggestions for other calculators, that I use the "mode" function to solve the problem. But, my calculator doesn't have a "mode" button. Any suggestions?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: reset?

Okay, I did what the best solution did and worked with it.

"1. press 2nd F (left top corner)
2. ENG/FIX (the button next to 2nd F)
3. press 0 (if you don't want calculator to round off any decimals)"

In order to get your exact value of pi, in step #3, instead of 0, press the decimal [ . ]
This should give you no decimals when entering a number and give you 3.141592654... when you input pi.
Hope that works/helps.

SOURCE: sharp el506d calculator has the decimal in the wrong place.

Try pressing the FSE button to switch between Fixed, Scientific, Engineering, and Normal displays. When in Fixed display, you can use <2ndF> < TAB > then enter a number from 0 to 9 to choose the number of decimal places in that display. To reset EVERYTHING to factory defaults: With the calculator off, press and hold these three keys: <2ndF> < ) > < ON/C > then release all three. The calculator will go through a series of tests (it takes a few seconds) and then be at its factory defaults. I have uploaded the manual for this calculator at www.theusermanualsite.com.

Are you using a ti-89? If so, check your mode settings and change Exact to Approximate.

Where can I get ink cartridge for Radio Shack EC-3016?

A Porelon #11201 PR12 Calculator Ink Roll (purple) ink cartridge works well in mine. If nowhere else, I think you can find them on eBay. You might want to put on a latex glove when you change it out, it gets purple ink on your fingertips.

Need a user manual for adding machine EC-3017

The feed roller turns to mush on these old calculators. I suspect that is the problem with this one. You might get it to work if you replace the mushy roller by a new piece of rubber tubing. However, you have to be mechanically inclined to take the printer apart enough to get to the mushy roller. I have this exact same calculator in my hand right now and when I folded printer paper on a 45 degree angle and forced it through the printer until I could pull it through, the paper was gooed up down the center where the mushy roller rubbed off onto the paper. The calculator still works great electronically!

Radio Shack's manuals page for calculators is here. Your model isn't listed, but there are some close to it. You can try downloading some and see if any are similar enough to help. Hope you can find it!

Thanks for using Fixya!
