Question about Nucleosys Digital Studio Scratches

1 Answer

I got Scratches a while back, then my old computer crashed. Now I have Windows 7 and when I installed Scratches and tried to play, I got a blue screen. I have seen there is a patch available but would like to know if this will conquer my problem.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

What do I do to get the game to play?

This game is 12 years old and was designed for Windows XP. I would try running it in compatibility mode to see if that helps. Considering were the crash is though it would seem like the draw calls are looking for a version of DirectX that was never designed to work with whatever OS you got. If compatibility mode does not work, you may need to go as far as to install Windows XP mode (assuming you are running Windows 7) or a second partition with Windows XP on it.

try to open safe mode through F8 key

there r two solution's:
(1) Might be windows is corrupted that's why it shows blue screen before startup. Take ur data backup and reinstall ur OS.
(2) It's might be there is some issue with ur RAM. Remove ur RAM n gently n clean ur RAM with pencil eresar. Then reinstall it.

SPECIAL EDITION SCRATCHES won't play on my windows 7 laptop. Chris

i think the problem is with compatibility with your OS. first, u need to check that your windows 7 is installed with 32bits or 64bits system. second, check your game compatibility (is it compatible with 32bits, 64bits, or both. if your OS installed with 64bit then your game only compatible with 32bits so the game will not work, and the contrary.

my opinion (probably wrong):
maybe your win 7 is installed with 64bits and your game only support 32bits system, so you need get another 'scratches' game that support 64bits. another solution (worst scenario), try to installing your win 7 with new win 7 with 32bits system.:)

I have windows 7 home basic operating system. Brian lara install fine but when i try to play it says attempt of emulation software........ I purchased original cd. How do i solve this problem

I don't think you can - XP programs are emulated on the Windows 7 platform. If you remove the legacy support it may crash and if you run the support it will fail.

You can try going under the properties for the Icon and playing with the compatibility modes.

The Sims Mega Deluxe Problems

Answer A crash at this exact point during the loading screen is typically caused by file corruption. This can be caused by downloads, an improper save, etc. There is a chance, however, that the crash can be attributed to a conflict with processes running in the background or the version of video or sound card drivers that are installed.
  1. End background tasks . This will help to prevent conflicts with other programs running in the background as well as free up resources for the game, making it easier for your computer to run.
  2. Try using the -w and -nosound " target="_blank">shortcut switches. This will allow you to troubleshoot and bypass conflicts with the video and/or sound card drivers.
If these steps do not resolve the issue, this means it is, in fact, a corrupt file issue. In this case you would need to uninstall the game completely and reinstall the game. This should resolve the crashing issue.
