Unplug and manual defrost This happens when warm moist air is drawn into refrigerator. It freezes as frost and confuses the motherboard or defrost timer and put a heavy strain on compressor.. You also have a defrost timer inside the fresh food compartment. It is possible you can run forward to force defrost=> 67001036 Defrost Timer turn timer with small flathead screwdriver slowly clockwise.Click Here=> ARS2464B Amana Refrigerator Control Parts List Part 711 in top left photo can be found in the control panel inside the fresh food compartment. Condenser freezes up and the fridge gets warm, I thaw out the condenser and its works great for a couple of weeks. the unit is a amana bottom freezer ARB1917C. thank you

It's the evaporator that's freezing up from failure of an item in the defrost system. You'll find you have a bad timer, heater or thermostat. The timer is located in the control panel, centered towards the rear. Turn it cockwise with a flat blade screwdriver. A tick will be heard for each advance of the timer. Continue until a loder click is heard and the fan and compressor go off. After approximately 10 minutes, listen in the freezer for sizzling and crackling sounds of water hitting a hot heater element. You must wait about 6 hors since you last thawed out the coils to be sure the thermostat has closed. If the heater is on, and the coils thaw out......replace the timer. If not, the problem is with the heater or thermostat.

Sanyo 4.9cu.ft. compact refrigerator heats rather than cools

I'd already picked up a replacement (B&D 2.7cf) before I found the website and asked the question,,,, hoped for a quick fix answer and I'd be able to return the B&D.... oh well. With 'designed' obsolescence and 'disposable' appliances, Robert L's answer confirmed my 'fears'.
Now I'm trying to find someone locally (Conroe, TX) who would like to 'recycle' the Sanyo (everything but the compressor/motor is in great shape - door, glass shelves, etc. maybe even the coolant which I don't want to 'dump' in a landfill.

Refrigerator compartment not cooling

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.

Freezer is working/refrigerator works sometimes

No No No. The most likely reason that the evaporator fan is not running is that it probably uses the heater circuit for its neutral feed. I.E. In order for the fan to have 230v/115v it needs a zero voltage brought back through the defrost heater and defrost stat. I know this for a fact because I just did one today and have fallen for this scenario (ie bad fan motor) before. You need to check from ground(earth) to each side of the fan motor (which is easily accessible) and then across the fan motor windings. The chances are that you have zero voltage across the motor. The fan will also not run until the temperature of the evaporator coil has been brought below 0 'C (32'F) and this can take up to 20 mins (again speaking from experience). This is to prevent snow being produced after defrost. I would advise getting the engineer to come back if you have paid him money and do a proper job. Shorts in Amanas can happen but have not come across one yet. Hope this helps.

Freezer was left ajar & now Refrigerator does not work properly

you have ice build up on the evaporator. two ways to cure. first switch off for 24 hours and leave with doors open. second switch off. remove back panel inside freezer and melt ice off with a hair dryer
