Question about Philips Televison & Video

1 Answer

I keep getting the dialog that says, "Please use only legal characters." I don't know what characters I used that are not "legal". My problem cannot be presented or solved until I know what they are. Thanks!

What kind of information are you trying to enter? Try using only numbers and letters. Characters that may not be legal could be anything else, such as underscore _
dash - period . colon : semicolon ; slash / backslash \ and lots of others

Replying to a response to my first/orginal query - illegal characters

Hello, Alex -

Those who answer questions on Fixya.com are volunteers. Plus, if your question wasn't accepted because the Fixya.com question algorithm did not accept some text / characters in your question, that question did not get posted and no one volunteering to answer on Fixya even knows what you wrote.

I suggest you contact Fixya.com Customer Support:

What is a legal character?

Where are you asking what you were asking?. On FixYa?.
The FixYa parser refuses to let anyone enter any character (letter, punctuation mark, ..) that is not part of the English alphabet.
I just had a problem with a circonflexe (^) accent. In the opinion of their programmers, any such symbol is illegal (meaning NOT LEGAL)

Legal characters

Basically the letters, number, and other characters that are on the keyboard. Not the ALT+ combinations. If you're pasting from a word processor, use the "Paste as plain text" option.

What does "use only legal characters" mean? What are legal characters? (alphabetic, numeric and/or special)

Hey C KROL

Usually it means letters and numbers. Some signup processes don't allow characters like: # % ? _ @.

Good Luck

Legal characters are generally the letters A-Z and numbers 0-9, as well as a few general symbols such as , . / etc.

******* characters are such things as different fonts that cant be displayed or hidden characters. This can happen if you are cutting and pasting from a different source, it may be importing ******* characters that you cant see, but are part of the paste. Try deleting the whole input are and typing your answer with no cut and paste.

I have downloaded the free Tally silver single user from Internet but it is showing dialog box which "activation form" asking for Serial and key. Please what should I do?

No such thing as "free software" sometimes companies say free, and while an ethically improper strategy, it is still legal, because it WAS free to DOWNLOAD, not to USE.
