Hello,

Have you tried removing the battery in the Laptop? I mean powering up the computer without the battery on it? You just have to use the power cord on it. In this way, we can check which one is having a problem.

There are three possible problematic parts in the computer. 1. Power cord, 2. Battery, 3. Motherboard.

What you need to do is to isolate the problem. So, try turning on the computer by using the power cord alone. Let me know if what happens later on by leaving a comment in this post and I'll attend to you as soon as possible.

New Computer Shuts Itself Down

Call DELL support. Doesn't sound normal. There is Standby and Hibernate modes; neither of which would require you to unplug and plug-in the power cord in order to start the machine.

Dell support will have you run the Dell diagnostic at startup which will detect hardware problems. Or you could run it without calling...

Unplug power and remove battery
Press and hold power button 20 seconds
Replace battery, plug power cord in
Hold down the "Fn" key (to left of space bar)
Turn power button on while still holding Fn key
When diagnostics begins, let go of Fun key
Note any errors; let Dell know your findings

Cannot turn on

from https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2462356?start=0&tstart=0

Hi,

Try pressing SLEEP/WAKE button and HOME button *at the same time* to force it restart for 2 or 3 times and see if it can turn on. Sometime it's just turn off by itself (happens more frequently for me esp when the battery is low) and we have to force it to start again.

Hope this helps,

My tablet iconia wont start

There should be a tiny reset button or pinhole (use a straightened out paper clip). If reset button/hole itself does not work, try pressing it while holding down the power button at same time. Otherwise, it sounds like you have a battery/charging issue (try another charger cord if available).

Asus x83v won't boot up

Unplug the machine, remove battery, leave the battery out, plug in the machine, try to boot normally. If the fails unplug, plug in, push the on/off button and IMMEDIATLY start tapping the F-11 REPEATEDLY. Enter restore/recovery section select a date before this problem started and restore. If that fails do a system recovery to factory settings. Or if you have a Windows Vista repair disk, Windows Vista Install disk that you can use to repair

If stil no go may me mobo / faulty ram(assuming there is NO posting beep) / faulty CPU.

If ext monitor works then prob with monitor itself.
