Not used for a while while and now got a hot smell from motor

It may be due to the rust formation or contamination on the motor. When you start running it after a while, it heats up to evaporate those contamination. which gives you bad smell.

one more reason could be burning of rotor coil.

Is it burning smell?

Ihave no power to my sony tc-w365

The power supply would have to be examined and the problem may be a burned out regulator or as simple as a thermal broken solder joint. One reason the power supply gives out is due to worn out capstan motors that are drawing too much current- the speed of the deck can give indication of this. There is sometimes noise that comes from DC motors with worn brushes- the brushes get to the point that they wear through and break off0- that is when they make noise. New motors are available.

My heater only works on the high setting, and when you turn it on high it makes a loud grinding noise. i live in Maine and its coooooooooooooooold. please help.

Hello Otis.
The blower speed system on your car goes through a resistor to give various speeds.
The reason it still works on high is that on high it doesn't go through that resistor.
because you mentioned the blower is noisy it leads me to believe the motor is the reason for the resistor burnout.
When the motor begins to go bad it draws more electrical amperage. The resistor can't handle it and burns out.
Both will need to be replaced, that I am sure.
They are mounted above where the passengers feet would be behind a panel that will need to be removed.
Relatively easy job if you are young and flexible enough to get under there and work.
Both parts should be available through your favorite auto supplier.
I prefer the Delco branded replacement parts because they fit and the motor comes with a new fan.
I hope your repair goes well. Keep warm!
Thank you for using FixYa.

Hello can you help me please? I have a Kirby G4 vacuum cleaner, It did work ok until it started to give off burning smell and lots of sparks from the brushes. I have changed these brushes, the motor still...

Some debris, even sand or dirt, probably got into the motor, causing damage to the armature. If this is the case, you will need to replace the motor. The burning smell from the motor is generally a sure sign of a bad motor.

Not washing

The reason to this problem can be due to two reasons.
It may be either the burn spot or burn fuse on the motor
control board.

I have a Ruud Acheiver 90, I'm having some problems, the rollout (burner) limit switches are opening, and there is an electrical burning smell. It seems that sometimes the squirrel cage isn't kicking on,...

Thanks for your question,
yup your fan motor is bad, if you need to manually start it each time then the motor winding are bad and it is not getting the air across the coils, which in turn are over heating, thus causing a burning smell, and then tripping your limits, you need to replace this motor ASAP, before it does cause a fire, if the limits ever fail !! I hope this was helpful for ya, if it was please give this a rating, thanks again,
