That is a power supply issue .wavy picture is caused by a low voltage power supply.Replace the bulging capacitors at the power supply section will resolve the problem also the capacitors at the horizontal section have a close look for any bulging capacitors.good luck and let me know!

hi sir, If you have a little knowledge in electronics repair and know how to use a soldering iron and multimeter you can do it yourself just remember to replace the exact value and rating of the capacitors you are replacing.capacitors are rated this way 100uf/50v it has a polarity on it's pin.The negative side has a minus symbol.insert the capacitors on the correct polarity pins.

but if you do not any experience in electronics repair I would suggest to better bring it to a qualified service personnel..

1. "wavy" may mean a signal problem inside the set--are you seeing colors out of position or skewed around letters etc?

2. Does it do it when a DVD is played? (this will rule out certain things).

You probably have a V26 chassis. The only fix to this problem now that parts are no longer available from MITS is to call their Consumer relations dept. at 800-332-2119. If you have a qualified tech come out and estimate the job, Mits will offer you an attractive discount on a new model. To repair your problem would be around $750

Basically i have an older rear projection model mitsubishi not sure of the model #, it is currently having lines run from top to bottom like waves on the picture screen! is there anything you can tell me...

Many different mitsubishi's have problems with voltage regulators going out and causing wavy diagonal lines that scroll the picture from top to bottom or vice versa. Without a model number it's difficult to clarify.

Mitsubishi diamond 55 Rear Projection - Won't turn on?

The DM module is not booting up because some capacitors inside it have dried up. A common problem with that generation Mitsubishi. The repair can be done in the home and most shops charge around $250 to $300 for the repair.

It seems these TV's are going bad right and left. I would look on Craig’s list for a cheap/free 55" Diamond TV. Not sure what you would do with the left over TV. I just picked up a 55" Diamond for free and hope to fix it. If I don’t get it to work, you can have the screen (California).
