Can I by pass the Therm-O-Disc

The thermodisc is a temperature sensing device that senses an unsafe condition to "open" the electrical circuit to stop the potential for a fire or other circuitry damage. It SHOULD NOT be bypassed.

Just one day stopped working

mine did this, too. There's some small component inside I've traced the problem to but I don't know what exactly the component is nor where to get a replacement. Unless you can crack yours open and replace the component you might be out of luck.

Cycle starts and then seems to get stuck

Next time you start a load get out yer thermometer and check the water temp. Since the washer needs 140 plus degree water to sanitize the dishes the pause will be when the heatter is bringing the water temp tp sanitize temp. The thermodisc or the heater is the problem . That thermodisc iis connect to the motor and the heater. Think of it as a train sitting on a siderail waitng on the express train to come by. as soon as that train goes by the freight trains continues on down to the destination. If that heater is bad or that thermodisc is abd then that freight train is gonna be late. LOL. Just a guess.

Hot Water Heater runs too hot

Here is the website for ThermoDisc. It looks like the 59T thermostat is still available. http://www.thermodisc.com/productdetail.asp?ProductID=84. On a positive note, the PT valve (pressure/temperature relief valve) is supposed to pop off before the tank blows up. An electric water heater rarely lasts more than about 11 years under good conditions, so I think it would be wise to weigh the possibility of replacing the water heater. Newer ones have much better insulation which should save you in operating costs over the long run. In addition, if you fix it now, then something else goes bad, and it will, you will probably conclude replacement would have been the better option.

Freezer won't keep the sane Temp

Check that the fanmotor is running and is not obstructed. If it is running, then you have an ice build up on the freezer (evaporator) coils. This can be caused by failure of the defrost system. Either the control board needs replacing or the defrost element, or the thermodisc.

Coil freezing up not defrosting causing limited air flow to refrigerator Maytag MSD2641KEW

Your defrost element is faulty, this is located in the back of the freezer compartment behind a removable panel. You should replace both the element as well as the defrost limiting thermodisc at the same time.
