Question about Honeywell Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

I have an older Lennox furnace with a honeywell controller model 1012 (I think) the pilot used to go out sometimes then it started going out almost daily so I changed the thermocouple but it didn't help. It seems now that the pilot is bigger than it should be and the thermocouple is glowing red on the end.

What i'm reading into this is your pilot may need to be cleaned.when you say bigger is it "lazy"also maybe some yellow to it? the pilot should be sharp and blue.to clean the pilot you need to remove it from the burner.a 7/16 is the normal size nut to the tubing.remove the tubing from the bottom of the pilot and there should be a little thimble looking thing that will drop out.there is a very small hole in it. do not enlarge the hole but clean it and reassemble. hope that works for ya.

Furnace computer won't let furnace light

What is the model number? I have an SLP98 (installed on 11/29/2011).... and if I take the cover off the front of the furnace the panel that has the fancy "Lennox" badge on it) you will see two clear round windows about the size of a half dollar (one high on the furnace box and one lower on the blower box.) If you look downward into the window on the blower box you can see a red LED display that will sometimes flash error codes like E228 (one character at a time). If your model has something like this, let me know. I've done some DIY fixes recently out of necessity....and their easy.....and several technicians confessed they didn't know much, if anything, about the newer high effieciency Lennox gas furnaces.

Lennox G8Q3-90-4 will not ignite the pilot. The

While holding down the control knob for the pilot, you either have to use the pilot ignitor or match light the pilot. Then old the knob in for 60 seconds, before releasing it. If the pilot remains lit, turn the control knob to ON. If the pilot does not remain lit, the Thermocouple or Thermopile may need to be replaced.

Hope this helps you to solve the problem.

I have a lennox furnace/ new thermostat/ wont turn on/ have to turn the switch to on and off a few times or completely leave it off for a small time and then it will come on and sometimes run for hours....

i dont belive that furnace has a spill switch so the chimney would not be your problem with this.the furnace has a lock out after so many trys to light. by turning it off your reseting the board. i would look at my pilot light as the main problem. it may need to be cleaned. then look at flame rod position. remove gas tube from bottom of pilot assemble and a small thimble looking thing should come out it has a very small hole in it to clean. reassemble and check connection with soapy water with the pilot lit for leakage

Pilot light will not light

Sounds like you may need a new electronic control module. This is a rectangular shaped plastic box that has wires coming out of it. This is what tells the pilot to light on these older furnaces.

Furnace will not heat.

Most of the Lennox G-16s that I have repaired were having problems with the gray Penn-Johnson Piggyback igniton control module.
This is best repaired by replacing the spark module. Sometimes it may be neccesary to replace the gas valve also. Lennox updated to a ROBERTSHAW ignition system. Honeywell can also be used.
Also check that there is no water in the pressure switch or tube.
Hope this helps.

Furnace pilot problem

check the pilot gas pressure, might be too weak and blowing out when the blower starts, the clicking noise is the gas valve shutting down when it detecks no pilot flame, that park is normal.
