We have a Maytag refrigerator 1 year old MFF2558VEW2 bottom freezer that leaks a small pool of water each day onto our floor. Also, there is ice buildup on the floor of the interior of the freezer as well...

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

This sounds like the freezer compartment drain is clogged. Here is how to make sure it is clear:
1. Unplug the unit and remove freezer contents
2. Pull the unit away from the wall for rear panel access.
3. Direct an external fan into the freezer compartment for just over 2 hours. (It take this long to clear the ice in the compartment drain funnel!)
4. While your doing a manual defrosting session with the fan... open the back of the unit by removing the fiberboard cover. Then clean the condenser coils and fan. After the fan and coil cleaning... use a wet or dry vacuum or rags to empty the drip pan contents. (These can get really nasty) Make sure to clean the very end of the compartment drain tube. Dry icky debris from the drip pan and the water / dirt can cake on the very end of the drain tube and clog it.
5. Near the end of the 2 hour manual defrosting period switch the vacuum to exhaust and force air through the compartment drain tube. This will float out and up any debris that was in the freezer compartment drain funnel.
6. Reinstall the rear fiberboard cover.
7, Return the unit to normal service.
8. Before you reload the freezer depress the door / light switch and make sure the evaporator fan is running with the door switch depressed. Evap and condenser fans run anytime the compressor runs.

After a couple of days watch for signs of ice build up again. If it starts the icing routine again you most likely have an automatic defrosting problem. (Repair of the Automatic Defrosting System may be under the limited / extended warranty depending on your coverage plan)

Water leak on back wall of my freezer and a hell of noise from my icemaker when on

Water leak and noise are due to wrong temp setting or malfunction of defrost cycking.Keep temp setting between 3 and 5 degree centigrade. Due to over frosting, the freezer fan fan hits over the ice and working to cool fridge compartment. And also check defrost timer, and heaterworking properly to defrost in time. And if your ice maker is making sound, due to:
  • You will hear a buzzing sound when the water valve opens to fill the water reservoir for each cycle.
  • Rattling noises may come from the flow of the refrigerant or water line. Items stored on top of the ice maker can also make noises.
  • The high-efficiency compressor may make a pulsating or high-pitched sound.
  • Water running over the evaporator plate may make a splashing sound.
  • Water running from the evaporator plate to the water reservoir may make a splashing sound.
  • As each cycle ends, you may hear a gurgling sound due to the refrigerant flowing in your ice maker.
  • You may hear air being forced over the condenser by the condenser fan.
  • During the harvest cycle, you may hear a "thud" when the ice sheet slides from the evaporator onto the cutter grid.
  • When you first start the ice maker, you may hear water running continuously. The ice maker is programmed to run a rinse cycle before it begins to make ice.
Hope, it's helpful>

Error code is 1F - the fan has stopped working

My 2 year old LG LFX23961ST refrigerator started showing error code Er IF. In searching help here,
I found out it meant the problem was with the Ice maker Fan. When I checked the ports where the cold air blows into the Ice maker compartment, there was no cold air coming out (you have to hold the door switch in to turn on the fan). I removed the ice maker module (two screws) and unplugged it. When I closed the door, the fan started running, but was making a rattling noise. I suspected ice build up.
Emptying out the freezer compartment, I pulled the rear cover of the compartment off and found what I had suspected. Cleaned out the ice, put everything back together and Voila! Everything working again.
As I write this, I can hear ice dropping into the ice holding tray. Not sure yet why the whole ice blockage thing happened though. Will keep an eye on it. It's been several hours since the repair and no issues. All seems well. It's not rocket science. If you can use a screwdriver, you can fix it too.

Our refrigerator just suddenly started to make this loud grinding sound..it appears to be coming from the freezer side. I turned off the ice make and reduced the freezer temperature but it still keeps...

This could be a failure of the evaporator fan. Also maybe some ice has formed from water dripping from the ice maker and had now produced an icicle which could be hitting the fan blade of the evaporator motor. Remove back cover to the freezer/fan and check the fan operation while it is running.

GE top freezer refrigerator fan rattles constantly

It is mounted properly, it is probably a bad bearing in the fan motor and/or the blade is loose on the shaft. Replace the motor.
Good Luck,

Refrig compartment does not cool on my new Kemore Frig.

Check and make sure the fan in the freezer is running. if not possible bad fan. If fan is running, check to see if you have any ice built up on back freezer wall. Normally frost type ice. If so, you may possibly have a bad defrost bi-metal mounted in the freezer section. Next could be a defrost timer control. Model number usally will help more in getting it right.

My bottom refrigerator is not cold. The freezer is okay.

Check to make sure the fan in the freezer compartment is working and not blocked. This delivers the cold air to the refrigerator. The fan should run every time the freezer calls for cold.

Freezer appears to be working making ice etc but fridge not reaching correct temperature

Check to see if the fan motor is operating. The fan is usually located in the freezer compartment, on the back in the middle. If not running when the frig is calling for cold, the is bad.

Fridgidare/Electrolux top freezer not freezing fan stays on.

Look for ice buildup on the back wall of the freezer.
If ice is there you have a defrost parts issue.
If not, check the compressor to make sure it is running.

It's a Kenmore alright

Do you have any frost buld up in freezer compartment?if so sounds like a freezing issue. If no frost build up is your fan running in freezer part if not you may need evap fan or a manual defrost.Your fan may have ice stoping it from turning. If your fan is running you may need to pull off your start switch located on your compressor.Shake it around if you here noise like burnt parts in it you will need a start switch. And remmember never turn your fridge up full blast normal is good or you will freeze it up. Good luck:)
