Question about Computers & Internet
First go into bios by pressing DEL at startup and then setting your 1st boot device to your CD drive. Usually it's the D:/ drive. Then put your windows CD in the drive. Save bios settings and exit. The PC will restart and you should eventually get a message "Press any key to boot from CD...." Press any key. They follow the instructions from the windows CD.

Your PC supplier should have presented you with a "Recovery" CD. Just insert it into the CD drive and power cycle the system with it inserted. It will boot from the recovery disk and prompt you through the installation. It may also ask you for the license key which is probably on the case of your PC - looks like a hologram about 1" x 3" long - you need the 26 letter code printed on it.

Tips for a great answer:
Oct 05, 2015 | Computers & Internet
First, you will want to BACKUP ALL of your programs.
Since you did not upgrade to VISTA, you will LOOSE all of your programs when you upgrade to Windows 7, so be sure to backup all of your programs and files.
If you wish, you can use an external hard drive and a program called WINDOWS EASY TRANSFER to make this task easier.
See the link below for this FREE program.
Now, for the fun part! Insert the Windows 7 disc into the computer and start or restart the computer.
Follow the onscreen instructions to completely install Windows 7.
You will now need to reinstall each of your programs.
If you used Windows Easy Transfer, you can use the list of programs that it prints out to be certain that you reinstall all of your programs.
Hope this helps.
