USB broadband doesn't connect to a regular router. You'll need a router similar to this:

The company who provides your USB broadband may have a router available.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I will suggest to check the router settings and make sure TCP Port 1723, IP Protocol 47 (GRE) are opened. Also make sure that the router has the PPTP enabled and not firewall block the traffic. On the RAS server, check the DHCP settings

The computer tells me the only way to create a wireless connection is by using a usb flash drive . Is this correct?

Hello

This Windows screen is telling you have to create a Wireless network not a wireless connection. I would have to know the brand and model to be more specific and whether or not a wireless card was originally installed.

You would need to set the Wifi Usb Connector in adhok mode You will then need to Bridge the connection between the wifi usb connection with your internet connection.

You could do that, or buy a wireless router (these serve as an access point)

Did I buy the right router??

Ok, well this indeed will probably be OK.. If you like ya could ask YOUR ISP, pipex? for their Setup CD, OR perhaps they have it on their website? Basically ya connect the router up via Ethernet... then using ya browser navigate to the "Default" location, often 192.168.0.1,or 192.168.1.1, type in the "Routers Administration" password and logon.. often admin, admin ... but your manual will tell you. Then you can enter YOUR ISP details into the Routers Setup.. setting the ISP Address, Your logon & Password. save the settings and ya should be all good.. Below is a manual for ya unit.... www.netgear.com/upload/product/dg834g/ enus_ds_dg834g_19april07.pdf
